The tools of the (writing) trade discussion meetup

We writers are builders of worlds, characters, and adventure. And like any good craftsperson, we have our tools and tricks that make it all possible.

Be it something for developing more complex characters, for keeping your work organized, for writing on the go, or for promoting yourself as a writer worth watching, this meetup is for sharing those websites, apps, writing exercises, states of mind, and more that help make us the builders of wonder that we are.

The two discussion kick-starter questions for this meetup are thus as follows:

“What is your favourite tool or tip that helps you as a writer?”

And,

“What is a writing-related problem for which you could use a tool or tip?”

Other topics will also be discussed as they arise, in a relaxed, friendly manner.

New members welcome! Look for the "Vancouver Writers' Social Group" sign on the table.

NOTE: If you end up on the waitlist, please don't just show up unless you are notified via the Meetup site of an opening and are added to the guest list.

Thanks again Jonanne. I knew something would come to me on the drive home and it was talked about a bit tonight. How to go about getting published/an agent. Also, something about e-publishing would be good. I know Perry does this and I would like to know more about it, maybe others would too.

    Hello again writers.

To all of you on the waitlist: A reminder that unless you are notified via the Meetup site that a spot on the guest list has opened up for you, you will be unable to attend this meetup. Please do not just show up unless you receive a spot.

To all of you on the guest list: A final reminder update your attendance. We have a long waitlist, so if you RSVPed YES but can no longer attend, please change it to NO so someone on the waitlist can attend. As always, I am not cool with no-shows (and yes, I do keep track).

Hello writers! I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Just a reminder to update your attendance. Be fair to those on the waitlist; if you RSVPed YES but can no longer make it, please change your reply to NO. No-shows are not cool.

If we're on the waiting list does that mean we cannot attend?

    • Jonanne

Hi Wylie. I'm afraid if you are on the waiting list, you cannot attend. If a space opens up for you (through other people cancelling their attendance), you will be notified via the Meetup website. If that doesn't happen for you this time, we'll look forward to seeing you next time.

If we are on the waiting list are we able to attend the meeting?

Hey all, just found out I'm running an event on Saturday and will need time to prep on Friday. Apologies for cancelling. Hope to make it to the next one!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
