Pathfinder: The Dragon's Demand

Hi there!

I used to be a big time RPG player when I was in college. Sadly, the group I used to play with has moved on so at this moment, I don't have many options for people to play with. I would love to get a game of Pathfinder going once more.

I am a serviceable GM but I would defer to anyone who has more experience or would be interested in filling that role.

On the plus side of things, I would be more than happy to host the game at my apartment. So, just let me know if you would be interested in getting a campaign in Vancouver going, which campaign you would like to play and if you would be interested in GMing or not.

We'll be running The Dragon's Demand module, it has a good mix of combat and roleplaying opportunities, so everyone roll up a level 1 character and I'll see you there!

Hey what's everyone planning on being? Do we have a cleric? Wizard? Who's thinking of being melee? Cuz my Druid I want to be is gonna be a little useless for the first couple levels...open to adjusting if it's necessary tho : D

      Psh! Munchkining?

Puh-leeze. Everyone knows that'd involve the Initiate of Malar feat and Ashbound Summoning coupled with a strong summoning-archetype from Pathfinder using non-PF dinosaurs like a Saurian Shaman the Cave or Fleshraker varieties .

      Done and done.

Though seriously I think the ability to actually swap stats in 3.5 will make just about any 3.5 druid able to mop the floor with their PF counterparts. XD

Hey Paris, still waiting on that email.Especially if I'm going to have the time to send up a proof of concept or two. ;)

Sorry Corey, work swamped me on the weekend. I'm replying now.

Haven't played pathfinder that much, but I'm willing to go and give this a shot. I know it is close to D&D 3.5, so it shouldn't be to big of a shift.

Sorry, we're full up for Thursday. If anyone drops out, I'll definitely let you know.

It looks like we have 5-6 people that want to come so I'm going to have to cap this game for the time being. If anyone drops out before the 1st though, I'll be sure to let people know.

I would love to join this if anyone drops out just let me know!

If there is space for one more I am very interested in joining, if its a full house already not a problem :)

Can everyone make it if we run it at 7:30 on Thursday, May 1st?

    April 14, 2014

    • Paris

@mick As long as it would make sense that your character has those traits, it's totally cool with me. I think 2 traits will be the max for now.

      April 22, 2014

    • Paris

@mick As for starting gold, go with the standard roll included with your class. In the case of the magus, I think it 4d6x10

    Hello Paris,

I'd be most interested in Shadowrun or Pathfinder, myself.

If you do Pathfinder: How do you feel about third party material? I'm a tremendous fan of Dreamscarred Press' material regarding Initiators (a la 3.5's Tome of Battle: Book of Nine Swords) for martial classes and DSP's fantastic work on Psionics is available through the Open Gaming Licence on d20 PFSRD here: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed

Obviously the flavour of psionics need not be Professor Xavier but as a form of hedge sorcery.

I just love the idea of using material to flesh out otherwise difficult-to-work concepts like a proper martial class that plays a real iron guardian concept.

I also love the Vitalist as a support character. :)

    Cheers!

Mechanically they're more finesse and are dangerous at going nova but that comes at longevity or raw output. Psionic warrior types just have cool powers that allow them to fight dudes. They're not too dissimilar to comparing a Barbarian to a Magus though as is the case with casters they tend to outperform core melee classes but that's more a statement on how poorly made the core melee classes are :(

      April 16, 2014

    • Paris

That's true, but like I said earlier, I'm not overly familiar with psionics and how they're going to affect the gameplay so I have to say no for the time being, sorry! Once I have some more free time and I can do some proper research, I may be open to it though.

It looks like we have 4 players so that's enough to get the game going. I only want to have 5 players maximum for the time being so there is room for one more person if anyone wants in. I'll be sure to message everyone who has RSVP'd with my address and contact info in a bit.

May 1st I would not be able to make it as that is my second day back to work. I would be coming back to town on May 14th.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays work for me. Would prefer Shadowrun or Call of Cthulhu (haven't played either), but up for Pathfinder too.

I'd be interested if its on the weekdays or about every 2nd or 3rd Saturday.

Alright so I'm thinking Pathfinder would be the easiest game to get going, just because it's the most readily available. So unless anyone can make a really compelling argument for another game, it'll be a low level Pathfinder campaign to start.

I would be interested in getting back into RPGs, it has been a while. And you're in the perfect location as I am nearby.

I have to forewarn, that I work 1/2 the year on a two weeks on two weeks off schedule. If you would be able to shoe horn that somehow, I'd be game.

I can't make any promises but I'm definitely leaning towards it myself.

Whoops, totally just jumbled what I mean to write. What I meant was: I can't make any promises if that will work or not but I would be happy to give it a shot.

I'm good in the evenings at 730 generally, or on weekends.

Awesome! I think we can definitely work with that. I'm leaning towards the weekend myself right now
