A Night in Little India!!!!

Jaz has graciously agreed to host our March Meet up- Indian cuisine! March 23, 2013. Jaz will email to all the attendees her address closer to the meetup!
Max in attendance: 16

Please post what dish you will be bringing to avoid duplicates....as we don't want 10 dishes of "Butter Chicken"! Use your imagination!
A few housekeeping notes:
Jaz has a small-medium dog, who will help co-host! Also Jaz is HIGHLY allergic to shellfish and her home has been deemed a "shellfish free zone" so PLEASE no shellfish at all! No shrimp, lobster etc!!!!! "Regular" fish is fine......
Also, street parking available if you can find it, and a pay lot next door to her place (enter from alley in back).
We will keep the details updated and everyone posted!

I can not change your RSVP to no unfortunately. If you simply log into the meetup, it will say on the right hand side, your status- RSVP YES, and ask "change RSVP" it is in GREEN- do that. This is specific to your log in. Try this and see what happens

    March 19, 2013

  • Bonnie

Hey Amy, I'll bring Indian saffron rice as well :)

    March 17, 2013

  • Amy K.

I see no one has signed up for Rice and many dishes will require rice so I will also make a big batch of rice for every one. I am looking forward to this upcoming Saturday. I will be sending out Jaz's address to all those who have signed up in the next day or two. If you don't have it by Thursday please let me know. It will only be sent to those are are attending and not to all members.

Not sure what I will bring
Should I bring some games for after dinner??

    February 6, 2013

    • Jaz

I have a couple games at the house (Cards Against Humanity has been a crowd pleaser as of late) and I have an Xbox Kinect if people are keen on fruit ninja or various mini-games. But feel free to bring along a game if you have something fun (I think last time I hosted the wine was the entertainment lol)

      February 12, 2013

  • Ivy

    I'll bring Kheer

    February 6, 2013

  • Amy K.

SORRY to all! The wait list had to be manually added!!! I just did that!!! You can now RSVP to the wait list!!!!!! Sorry - new organizer learning curve!

    February 6, 2013

  • Amy K.

Ming is correct! If you sill want to attend, please do add to the wait list and as people change their RSVP's you will automatically be added. You will get notified when that happens!

    February 6, 2013

  • Prema

Just saw that meet-up is full and can't RSVP so maybe next time:)

    February 6, 2013

    • Ming C.

I would suggest you add yourself to the waiting list, and then check back in the last 2-4 days before the event. Typically, 5-6 people will drop out because of external issues.

      February 6, 2013

  • Marcia S.

I'll do pakoras with a yogurt dipping sauce.

    February 5, 2013

    Veggie biryani

    February 5, 2013

  • Ming C.

Hmmm, haven't done alot of indian cuisine, so this will be challenging. I've done indian-fusion a couple of times, not sure if that's "close enough"

    February 5, 2013

    • Jaz

No one is too picky (I hope), and we can just call it "creatively indian" I'm sure it'll taste great :)

      February 5, 2013

  • Jaz

We will be paper-plating as I don't have that many plates (nor want to get stuck with the dishes). Also, just some suggestions to consider if people are stuck on what to bring:
-a couple people can make rice or biryani (so no one is stuck carrying a basket of rice over)
-Appies can include samosas or pakoras
-skewers are great as you won't have to buy a lot of meat and I have a large grill pan
-beverages are an option: wine, beer, non-alcoholic, chai
-Desserts are also up for grabs: Kheer (Rice pudding), barfi (indian fudge), kulfi (milk popsicle/ice cream)
-vegetarian options can include dahl (soup), or subji (vegetarian stewed), roasted veggies
-any meat or veg curry dish would also be great
