Some of you may be surprised to learn that the food court at Highland Mall is actually still open. Even more surprising is that one of the restaurants there, an italian place called Sauced, is ramping up its offerings for vegan pizza. Not just vegan cheese but also a selection of vegan meat analogs, like Uptons Naturals seitan and Yves vegan pepperoni.
Last weekend they tried a three-day experiment to gauge interest in having vegan pizza. It went so well that they want to do it again this weekend. So we're going to have a lunch meetup there Saturday, and see how many of you want to come have a few slices. Normally you'd have to order a whole pie, but this weekend special is that they're selling it by the slice. If you aren't vegan, they have a lot more vegetarian choices too.
The easiest way to find the food court is to park in the lot near the North entrance (off Highland Mall Blvd), come in on the second floor and turn right. You'll see the food court ahead and to your right. Look at this map and you'll see the North entrance marked by the black arrow on the right: http://www.austinplayhouse.com/images/map.jpg
Check out their Facebook page to see the what they were saying last weekend about the response to the experiment.
