Activists/Volunteers: Organizational Meetup to Get Involved in ATX veg events

Austin's veg community has several groups and plenty of social meetups like dineouts and potlucks. Sharing vegan food is great, but for those of you who have been wanting to get more active with the veg community, this meeting is where you want to be.

This is the first of a monthly series of informational, roundtable-style meetings to help Austin vegans and vegetarians find ways to help with the big events in our community. We’ll also talk about long-term efforts like the circus animal harmful devices ban and supporting animal sanctuaries. Fall is a very busy season for veg and animal rights events, so we’ll be talking about what’s going on with each of them, what their needs are and how we can volunteer or get involved. We’ll be asking for the organizers of each event to attend, so they can tell us exactly what kind of support they’re looking for.

Four events in the coming months that we’ll be focusing on are (in reverse order):
- Lone Star Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off in November
- Walk for Farm Animals in October
- Gathering of the Tribes in September
- Action for Animals Anti-Circus Protest (which is next week!)

Please note: these meetings are not specifically being done by the Vegetarian Network of Austin, and they won't be affiliated with any particular veg group in Austin. Everyone in the entire community is invited, and we encourage anyone with an event they need help with to come talk about it.

As long as it's dry, we’ll be using some of the outside tables at Casa de Luz—we may or may not be on the deck on the side, just look for signs pointing to where we’ll be. If you want to get food that’s fine, but it’d be advisable that you come a little early and have your food before the meeting, to reduce distractions.
