Vegan Sushi Class

Want to learn how to make vegan sushi? We will concentrate on four types of easy, fish-friendly sushi: nigirizushi (finger sushi), inarizushi (pocket sushi), makizushi (sushi rolls), and frushi (sweet dessert sushi).

Audrey Trainor, an amateur chef and charter member of this group, will teach the class with a focus on fun and making beautiful, tasty sushi.

The $11 event fee includes all ingredients, as well as a sushi mat to take home.

RSVP/Payment Info:
Pre-payment is required to RSVP (see exception below). automates this process when you pay via PayPal. If you want to pay by check, contact me and I will give you my mailing address. I will manually update your RSVP as soon as I receive your request, but since our events fill up quickly, out of fairness to other group members I will remove the RSVP if the check is not received within four business days.

Special honor system exception: If you have been in the group for a while and have a history of attending and paying for events without any problems you can contact me about paying me at the event. This accommodation is provided as a convenience -- you are still responsible for paying even if you do not attend.

Important Note: I will manually update the RSVPs of people who pay by check or use the honor system, but it's possible the event will fill up before I check my email. If that happens I will add you to the waiting list.

Fee Disclosure:
The $11.00 fee includes a little extra to cover PayPal's fees (62 cents) as well as's $144 annual cost.

Refund Policy:
If you cancel on or before Monday, March 21st you will get a full refund. There are no refunds for cancellations after the deadline or if you do not show up to the event. If something comes up at the last minute you are welcome to find someone else to attend instead of you. The reason refunds are not given after the deadline is that we are purchasing ingredients based on the number of people attending as of the deadline.

What about kids?
Kids who are old enough to independently participate in the food preparation are welcome to attend. Kids pay full price.

This is a vegetarian group. Why is the event vegan?
This group has members who are vegetarian, vegan, and just interested. Everyone is welcome. I think it's important for our events to accommodate all those diets.

Great activity! I learned a lot and got to take home lots of food as well as ideas! My only suggestion would be to distribute rice by table to speed up that process.

Lots of delicious ingredients, well-planned, perfect pace. My 11-year-old and I learned a lot and had fun. The instructor/cook, Audrey, offered enough variety and depth for beginners like us and the more experienced in attendance to learn something new and enjoy the fruishi of our labors.

I'm sad that I can't go, this sounds like fun! If there are recipes, could yall share them? And, if anyone knows where we can get Natto in Madison, I'd love to know!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
