Vegan Dinner at Tex Tubb's Taco Palace 2

This event is now full. If you would like to join the waiting list send me an mail.

Please include your phone number so I can contact you quickly if there's a cancellation. Signing up for the waiting list does not commit you to going if space becomes available. There is no fee involved in joining the waiting list.

If you are interested in this event it's important to add your name to the waiting list even if you think it's unlikely you'll be contacted to go:
1) There could be last-minute cancellations and the people ahead of you on the list might not be able to go -- or I might not be able to get ahold of them.
2) It gives me a better indication of the interest level, which can help in planning future events.

This is our first event at Tex Tubb's and we're in for a treat.

Note: There are two duplicate events:
Tuesday, August 7 & Tuesday, August 21.

Our completely-vegan menu includes the following:

Appetizers

Gluten-Free Info
All items can be ordered with corn tortillas, which are gluten free. Anything fried in the fryer is not gluten free. Please speak with your server to ensure a gluten-free visit.

The $13.00 fee includes the tax, tip, and everything mentioned above (except the noted beverages). That breaks down to about $10.00 for the meal, plus tax, tip, and a little to cover the meetup.com and PayPal fees. Tex Tubb's is giving our group a great deal. A dinner like this would normally be more than twice our cost.

RSVP/Payment Info:
Pre-payment is required to RSVP (see exception below). Meetup.com automates this process when you pay via PayPal. If you want to pay by check, contact me and I will give you my mailing address. I will manually update your RSVP as soon as I receive your request, but since our events fill up quickly, out of fairness to other group members I will remove the RSVP if the check is not received within four business days.

Special honor system exception: If you have been in the group for a while and have a history of attending and paying for events without any problems you can contact me about paying me at the event. This accommodation is provided as a convenience -- you are still responsible for paying even if you do not attend

Important Note: I will manually update the RSVPs of people who pay by check or use the honor system, but it's possible the event will fill up before I check my email. If that happens I will add you to the waiting list.

Fee Disclosure:
The $13.00 fee includes a little extra to cover PayPal's fees (68 cents) as well as Meetup.com's $144 annual cost.

Refund Policy:
If you cancel on or before Friday, August 10th you will get a full refund. There are no refunds for cancellations after the deadline or if you do not show up to the event. If something comes up at the last minute you are welcome to find someone else to attend instead of you. The reason refunds are not given after the deadline is that I agree to pay for everyone who has paid me at that point.

What about kids?
Kids are welcome, but pay full price. However, young children who will only nibble off of your plate can attend at no charge. Please note in the comment section of your RSVP if kids will be joining you.

This is a vegetarian group. Why is the dinner vegan?
This group has members who are vegetarian, vegan, and just interested. Everyone is welcome. I think it's important for our events to have a menu that not only has something for everyone, but where everyone can eat everything.

The food was awesome, lot's of choices, and more than enough!

What an unusual place (or cuisine, really) to find vegan food! The food was inventive and tasty -- and plentiful, especially at that price. Wait staff was professional, efficient, and friendly. I'd definitely call this a success, and I hope we do it again.

The service was wonderful and the venue was comfortable, but the food (even with the salsa bar) was bland. The lettuce on the nachos was too long and stringy and made the eating experience messier than usual and the uncheese had no flavor at all. The soup was delicious and hot. The avacado taco had waaaaaaay too many black beans and little else. I've been to Tex Tubb's before and have eaten the vegetarian dishes and they were quite delicious and I will go back again, but I was not impressed with the dinner last night.

The space was VERY loud. It was tough to have a conversation. Once the entrées were served the volume came down because the burritos, tostadas, and tacos were very good.

I had a great time and met 3 really cool people. But I just don't care for Taco Palace's food. I loved the salsa bar and the nachos, probably because they had chips involved!

Very convivial and welcoming. Plus, there was so much food, I could hardly believe it! The nachos were absolutely delicious, as well as all of the taco options. I had a wonderful time and look forward to the next meetup.
