VSDC Restaurant Visit – Casa Oaxaca

VSDC is looking forward to spending another evening enjoying vegan food with old and new friends alike.

Restaurant: Casa Oaxaca is a Mexican restaurant that participated in DC’s Annual Meat-Free Week with a vegan tasting menu. They have several vegan options, and will create extra vegan dishes just for us.

RSVP:  Since reservations are based on the number of RSVP’s, please do not RSVP “YES” unless you are sure you will attend.  Please be considerate of the restaurant, VSDC, and the others who want to attend by changing your RSVP if you are no longer able to come. The restaurant sets aside seating based on the RSVP’s, and it hurts the restaurant and VSDC when people do not show up.

VSDC will check people in as they arrive at the restaurant and only those who have RSVP’d YES will be permitted to sit with the group.

Please note: VSDC cannot guarantee seating if you arrive more than 15 minutes late.

Waiting List: If the RSVP’s are full, please sign up for the waiting list if you are interested in attending. Those on the waiting list will be automatically moved up when someone changes their RSVP.

Payment:  Each person is responsible for paying for his or her own meal and beverages. The restaurant will provide checks for small groups of people, so please bring cash and be prepared to split the bill to pay for your own food and drink, remembering to include tax and tip (suggested rule of thumb 30%).

Metro station: The restaurant is accessible from Dupont Circle metro station (Red line) (.57 miles).

Accessibility: We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy our events. Please email the event coordinators if you need accommodations for a physical disability.

Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, this event may be cancelled so please check your email beforehand.

*Please help VSDC continue to host these monthly restaurant visits and other events by becoming a member of VSDC or renewing your membership. VSDC is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that is sustained by membership dues. If you are not a VSDC member, you can sign up at the event. You can complete a membership application at the event, or fill it out beforehand by printing a hardcopy from our website ( and bringing it with you with cash or a check.

VSDC is a clear and consistent voice for improving the lives of all beings through education on the benefits of vegan and vegetarian diets. Sharing food is the bond that brings families together; so is it with our large and growing family. From simply “breaking bread” to experiencing delicious and nutritious vegan foods from around the world, we make your journey easier, enjoyable & meaningful.

Casa Oaxaca is in Adams Morgan, so parking is at a premium. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves (except for the parking situation, that is!). The restaurant was cozy and decorative; the food was delicious (what a treat to have vegan Mexican!); and the conversation was interesting, as always. Thank you everyone for attending and making it another successful VSDC restaurant visit!

LOL - I'm sorry I missed both the beer and chips! There was NO parking when I came back. Next time it's the Metro for me...then no worries about parking and being to stay for drinks (and chips)

I didn't have any trouble parking, and I love Adams Morgan. The restaurant was great, I'd go back. Thanks for planning it Susie!

I live in Annapolis, but I catch the orange line from New Carrollton since I'm more of a metro/walker in DC and not a driver. So this location was good for me, whereas sometimes other locations not so much. The cozy setting made for great conversations with people I had never met before. I simply ordered the guacamole & salsa with chips and it was wonderful! I plan to return there someday for meal #2

The location and parking were very inconvenient for me.
