Please join the Vegetarian Society of DC Book Club discussion of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by  Rebecca Skloot.

To participate just read at least half the book -- and RSVP at least two days before the meeting.

“Henrietta Lacks was a 31-year-old black mother of five in Baltimore when she died of cervical cancer in 1951. Without her knowledge, doctors treating her at Johns Hopkins took tissue samples... These cells have aided in medical discoveries from the polio vaccine to AIDS treatments.” -- Publishers Weekly Starred Review

We will meet at a vegetarian restaurant (in DC, MD, or VA). People who RSVP "yes" will get the location information. For more details contact Beth through meet up. For more information about the book club (including everything we have read over 19 years!) visit http://www.vsdc.org/book.html

Be considerate...if your plans change, PLEASE update your RSVP!

This was a great book to read and share. I'm glad to hear there's plans for a movie, and I'm interested in learning more about HeLa cancer cells.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
