VSDC Book Club discusses "The Odds: A Love Story"

Please join the Vegetarian Society of DC Book Club discussion of The Odds: A Love Story by Stewart O'Nan.

To participate just read at least half the book -- and RSVP at least two days before the meeting.

“Marking their 30th wedding anniversary, Art and Marion prepare for their impending divorce by taking one last trip together, a re-creation of their honeymoon at Niagara Falls. It’s a splurge they can no longer afford, as they’ve both lost their jobs and they’re about to lose their house, but Art hopes that going for broke at the casino with what little they have saved can reverse their fortunes.” - Booklist

This book discussion will take place over vegan brunch! Todd and Ellen Gray are moving their popular gourmet vegan brunch buffet from the Corcoran Gallery to their Equinox restaurant -- and they expect it to be bigger and better than ever. We will be among the first to try the brunch in its new location. Plan to pay $35 per person. (A few spots are available for people who want to join the discussion without eating. For more details contact Beth through meet up.)

For more information about the book club (including everything we have read over 22 years!) visit

Be considerate...if your plans change, PLEASE update your RSVP!

I really enjoyed the discussion and was happy to meet everyone. I have skimmed through the first half the book twice and have not found the word that bothered me on my first reading. Sorry! But if I was mistaken, I hope that manually searching the first half the book twice is adequate penance...

I apologize for changing my RSVP the night before, but I will not be able to make it tomorrow. I'm sorry to miss it.

Please forgive me as I have missed 2 discussions. I apologize. My job is unpredictable during the week. I know weekends are just much better. I will be there Sunday or update if necessary.
