Eat Smart: Cooking & Nutrition Series

  • May 6, 2012 · 2:00 PM
  • TBD

VSDC is excited to launch a major new activity – vegan cooking & nutrition classes! Each class will be completely vegan and provide a short section on good nutrition, food demonstrations of three creative and healthy yet simple-to-prepare dishes, Q&A, food sampling of the prepared items, and time to mingle and socialize.

[NOTE: this series is different from the Eat Smart Program that VSDC founded in 2004 but incorporates some of the key elements of that program.]

This first class will take place in Bethesda, MD – just 1 or 2 blocks from the Red-line Metro station. There is also free parking within 1 block.  The low fee for this class is $15 per person for VSDC members and $20 for non-members. We have room for about 25 attendees and expect this class to fill up quickly. Please RSVP ASAP. It’s first-come, first-serve, payment will be required in advance, and no refunds will be possible. All proceeds from these classes will benefit VSDC’s important work in outreach, education, and community-building.

After you RSVP, you will receive payment info and be expected to make online payment shortly afterwards.  One week or more in advance of the event, you will receive specific location and other info.

This is the first in the new Eat Smart: Cooking & Nutrition Series of such classes that VSDC is organizing – check out for more information in time!  To become a member of VSDC and receive the discounted rate for each future class, please see

Informative, friendly, inviting. Walked away with some new knowledge, healthful reinforcement and a desire to cook, which is exactly what I'd hope for. A really enjoyable experience.

The demonstration was excellent! Food and recipes very good. Kudos to VSDC and PCRM. I have since tried a recipe from (African bean soup). It was greeted with widespread delight.
