VSDC Thanksgiving Celebration

The VSDC Life-Affirming Thanksgiving is an annual event that brings together vegetarians and non-vegetarians to enjoy compassionate and healthy food and a wonderful social setting.

NOTE: Registration closed at noon on Monday, November 19th.  Sorry but we are unable to take any more registrations for the event (and no-walk up registrations are possible).

Celebrate Thanksgiving Day with hundreds of people enjoying a gourmet vegan feast at the annual Vegetarian Society of DC (VSDC) Life-Affirming Thanksgiving Celebration.

This annual event brings together vegetarians and non-vegetarians to enjoy compassionate and healthy food in a wonderful social setting. The programming includes exciting door prizes, a surprise, exhibitors, and a live musical act following lunch. Everyone will leave with vegan chocolates from Rose City Chocolates. We will also have a silent auction, 50/50 cash drawing, and a raffle - someone will walk away with a Vita-Mix, others will leave with gift certificates, while still others will be enjoying the Bamboo cutting board, Tofurky Lunch Box filled with goodies, a one-night free stay from Hyatt, just to name a few things.

This has been a very successful event for years so we feel confident that you will leave pleased again this year!

SPEAKER
Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Milton Mills, a practicing physician and the Associate Director of Preventative Medicine with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Dr. Mills will speak about the health benefits of a plant-based diet. He is an accomplished speaker, television commentator, and author. --Community of Hope provides our underserved neighbors with the building blocks they need to create meaningful lives and better futures. Please bring vegan, non-perishable food items as donations, so we can help them in their mission of improving the quality of life for homeless, low-income, and underserved families and individuals.

If you Google mushroom ravioli you'll find several recipes there to get you started or adjust. Ruth Schimel

The mushroom ravioli was the Hyatt's own recipe. I asked them and followed up, but did not receive any response. The lack of response leads me think that the Hyatt does not want to share the recipe.

I ditto wanting the ravioli recipe! If I had more room in my stomach after the first plate it would have been full of ravioli.

i'd love the recipe for the wild mushroom ravioli. My 7 yr old loves it! The link for it does not go to a specific recipe.

Can someone email me the recipe?

And big thanks to you, Luke, and the other leaders who made it flow so well and with with fine spirit. Since I did not see a place to leave the evaluation, which includes specific suggestions, I'll be mailing it. Was the increase in participants a marketing matter and/or hopefully an indication of the growth of interest?

Much in the way of parking? I'm not so sure how well the Metro will be running tomorrow. And as the crow flies, it isn't that far for me.

Metro is running holiday hours, no single tracking, no track work at all the whole weekend.

      November 22, 2012

    • Antoinette S.

And parking in a metro lot is free today

Sounds like a wonderful celebration! Wish I could be there, but I can't travel for another week or two.

Luke: did you note that I donated two autographed copies of my book for the Dinner's raffle?

I would like to go if there are any cancellations or if anyone would like to trade their ticket. I couldn't make advance plans due to my Work Travel.

    November 20, 2012

    • Susan

Surya, I am sick and may sell my ticket. Are you still interested?

      November 21, 2012

    • VSDC

If you are doing this, the person on record should let the organizers know asap with full names of who is not attending and who is in their place. Email [masked] by 9 pm this eve.

  • Anne B.

Does this event typically sell out? I'm interested but unsure of my plans, so I'd like to wait before registering.
