VSDC Book Club discusses "Rin Tin Tin" by Susan Orlean

  • Mar 27, 2013 · 7:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Please join the Vegetarian Society of DC Book Club discussion of Rin Tin Tin: The Life and the Legend by Susan Orlean.

To participate just read at least half the book -- and RSVP at least two days before the meeting.

The New York Times called this book a “sweeping story of the soulful German shepherd who was born on the battlefields of World War I, immigrated to America, conquered Hollywood . . . and himself emerged victorious as the perfect family-friendly icon of cold war gunslinging, thanks to the new medium of television.”

We will meet at a vegetarian restaurant (in MD, DC, or VA). Everyone will order on their own and pay directly to the restaurant. People who RSVP "yes" will get the location information. For more details contact Beth through meet up. For more information about the book club (including everything we have read over 20 years!) visit http://www.vsdc.org/book.html

Be considerate...if your plans change, PLEASE update your RSVP!

Good group - great discussion - I also enjoyed the book, which I would otherwise have not read.

I can hardly wait! Could the location please be in MD or DC and near a metro stop? I cannot drive.

I read this book not long ago and really enjoyed it -- in fact, it inspired me to get one of his films. It was really interesting and fun to watch -- Rin Tin Tin was an "actor", not just a prop in the film.
