Nava Atlas: author talk, recipe demo, book signing (Great Neck)

posted by Jennifer G.

From her book, Vegan Holiday Kitchen, author Nava Atlas will offer some delicious recipes (and cook-free recipe demo) and handy tips for Easter, Passover, and beyond.

This event is free and open to the public, no registration required. Nava will be signing and selling two of her cookbooks at a great discount: Vegan Holiday Kitchen and Wild About Greens:125 Delectable Vegan Recipes for Kale, Collards, Arugula, Bok Choy, and other Leafy Veggies Everyone Loves.

From her secret to making vegan (and even gluten-free) matzo balls to delectable recipes to celebrate the season of rebirth to updating beloved classics, Nava has you covered for the holidays. In Wild About Greens, she serves up a comprehensive collection of tasty recipes, plus techniques and tips designed to help everyone make more use of ultra-healthy leafy greens.

Though she herself has been a strict vegan for more than ten years and a longtime vegetarian before that, Nava takes a joyful, nonjudgmental approach to encouraging eaters of all persuasion to add the power of plant-based foods to their lives for their own health and that of the planet.

Nava Atlas has written many well-known vegetarian and vegan cookbooks. Her site, VegKitchen, is one of the leading resources for vegan recipes and plant-based kitchen tips on the web. Nava is also a nonfiction author and a visual artist whose work has been shown nationally in museums, galleries, and alternative art spaces, and is part of numerous museum and university collections.

She spoke very well and answered many ??? Most of those in attendance were NOT Vegans and very much Seniors, but they seemed VERY interested in the Health benefits of Plant Based so it was a great "get out the word" event!

I want everyone to know I just submitted a report to Google about the problem with their map for the Great Neck Library. So sorry that some of you were led astray!! Argghh. It's a puzzle why the correct address yielded the wrong location, but I hope it will get fixed so nobody else has trouble in the future.

I'll be driving here from Patchogue. Would anyone care to carpool with me? :-)
