Dinner at Whole Foods Market (Lake Grove)

-posted by Jennifer G.-

This gathering at the Whole Foods store in Lake Grove is quite casual. It's not required to gather promptly at 6:30. If you want to show up later, that's fine.

If you want to show up early and claim some tables, great—let me know that you can help with that. Thank you!

The store's food bar is vegan-friendly (vegan items are clearly labeled, ingredients are listed).  You pay by the weight of your food. My total usually comes to $10-11.

As with all VLI meetups, please bring only vegan fare to the table. (Our policy is that "at VLI meetups, the food is always vegan, and everyone is treated with kindness." In other words, we expect everyone to enjoy a vegan meal together. Even if you or your guests don't think of yourselves as "vegan.")

We'll be hanging out in the far end of the eating area, near the children's play area, at least until 8:00 (the store closes at 10). Be aware that as it gets later in the evening, the food bar may run out of the more popular items.

NOTE: Whole Foods offers durable bowls, but not durable utensils. So bring your own utensils if you can, to avoid needing to take their plastic ones. I bring my own water bottle, too.

Hope to see you there!

Please update your RSVP status by 12 pm Monday, because seating is limited, and I'll be printing nametags for everyone who says they're coming.  If you need to reach me, call or text[masked]-5108.

Laura, THANK YOU for remembering that I wanted that recipe! I was so glad to hear about your successful "baketivism." This is unquestionably one of the best ways to open hearts & minds to kinder choices—with food that proves that vegan living is delicious and joyful. Way to go! ♥

    Hi Jennifer,
Catherine and I are so glad that we came. We had a great time. It was so good to meet so many nice people and fellow vegan/vegetarians. We wish we had started coming to these meeting earlier. Thanks for organizing it. You're a great host - you made us feel so welcome. See you again soon.

Aw, Joe, I'm so glad you & Catherine came last night! It was great to meet you both! I look forward to seeing you again, and thank you for this feedback. I'm so happy to know that you had a positive experience at this meetup. :)

Thank you all for coming! Some of you came quite a distance!! I had a lovely time. It always recharges my batteries, getting together with wonderful people like you. (Note for next time: I'm thinking I'll probably stake out seating that's not directly next to the children's play area, in case there are families with kids who want to make use of that area, as there were tonight. I just want to be considerate of their needs.)

The "big" conversations are nice, unlike in Jericho where we are stuck w'multiple "4 top" conversations. Would WF let you push some of those tables "tween the "service area and the B'rooms around to form conversational groupings??????

    • Jennifer G.

Yes, I've pushed tables together in the past to create a few larger ones in that central area, and that's what I'll try to do next time.

Hey Jennifer, since I know it really doesn't matter to WF if I show or not I'm going to say "maybe" for this MU! Though I do have to work my mid day run on Tues. my alarm at 4:30AM won't be needed so I just might take a run out to Lake Grove on Mon., but I'm not "officially" RSVP - ing, OK?

Thanks for the message, Madelyn! We'll miss you, but I'm grateful for your rescue work. Hugs to you.
