This 100% raw vegan cafe is located at 201C East Main Street in Huntington.  It would be a great place to enjoy lunch, dinner or dessert.  It is take out only so perhaps we could order ahead and then enjoy a picnic at a neighboring park.

    Okay, a couple of things.
    1) Due to Hurricane Sandy, my Saturday morning painting class that was meant to complete last Saturday will be running one more Saturday. The class runs from 12-2pm in Smithtown. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it to this gathering until 2:30pm. We can't really push the time back because the Healthy Planet Thanksgiving is at 5pm the same day, so it looks like I'll just have to swing by a little later. Can someone else grab the reigns on this and be at Live Island Cafe by 1pm to welcome people?

    2) As I understand it, there is limited to no seating at Live Island. The plan was to pick up food and take it to a nearby park. However, I think it's too cold to eat outside. Any suggestions on nearby places that will allow food from other vendors? The Cinema Arts Center is not too far away...or maybe a Starbucks or other cafe? Thoughts?

    Thanks for any suggestions! :)

So, Steven, you're suggesting we stick with the outdoor picnic plan?

We'll probably have no other option... have to huddle in close to keep warm. LOL That might be fun.

Thanx for this, Jennifer! This was a cafe on my mental list of "to-dos"; you made it happen faster! I'm looking ! forward to seeing you again

Claudia, thanks for your kind words, but Ivy is the one to thank for this! She set the whole thing up. As for me, I'm going to have to miss this gathering (though I will be at HealthyPlanet's Thanksgiving later on). I hope everyone has a great time.

Just added a date, Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1pm. I know this has been a potential event for a long time, and it seems it's gotten some new interest. If you are seeing this update, please check your RSVP status, and if you can make it great, if not, please change your status to "not attending." Thanks! :)

      Hey, Jennifer

Looks like the Healthy Planet meetup is the same day, but 4 hours later. If it's cool with you, I'd like to keep this date, and try to swing both. Light raw lunch followed by massive un-Turkey dinner. :)

Yes, I was happy that there won't be a direct conflict, because I know you weren't keen to change the date. It may be a full day for you, but if you're happy, I'm happy. :)

Ivy, as I mentioned earlier I work near here and "do" lunch. ALL food is "take out" (LOTS of plastic) but they can accommodate with your durable containers which I suggest as everything is "packaged" when ordered. Also if weather is not too cold by mid Nov. there is a lovely seating area just outside, though as I remember more than those signed up now (8) might get crowded out of a seat. While this is an AWESOME place to eat I'm afraid I will pass on making the round trip to Huntington (37 miles), up and down the whole length of #110 6xs that week instead of 5!

Karen, you and I can do take out another day. I'm free in the middle of the week for lunch, but I don't think many are.

Oh I agree the time is perfect for most, it was that I didn't want to make the "workday" trip on a Sat. and to verify the seating situation for a "small" group.

I'm not sure if it's take-out only, or if they have seating for a small group. Will post more specifics once we get closer to the date.

Their hours have changed till 7pm and they're now open on Monday's (still closed on Sunday's). They use a food processor and a dehydrator (that's all I know) but their food is amazing!

Thank you for your comments. The cafe was met with more demand then what was initially anticipated and there were many kinks to work out during the first few weeks. The daily menu has been condensed but items from the online menu can still be ordered if enough time is given to prepare them. I would suggest calling a few hours before if there is something in particular that you would like. There will be an open house 4/28 from 6-9 <3

They're not in the heart of Huntington where all the other stores are on 110 & Main St. They're all the way East on Main St. past the park (on the left) so I'm sure their rent is much lower. In any event, perhaps one day they'll have later hours (before they go out of business) and we can all try the place. :)

I'd love to try the place with some friends but we haven't gone as they close @ 6 pm which is crazy if we want dinner & we called them up they were not selling several things that were on their menu that we wanted to try. :(
