Having compassion for other beings is the basis for me being vegan and is a major part of leading a spiritual life in my opinion. Vegan spirituality takes into account that beings besides the human variety are deserving of respect and compassion.
I'm a Zoroastrian and have given talks at conferences on vegetarianism as it relates to Zoroastrianism. In my daily life I am mindful of the connections between various spiritual teachings and the principles that led me to adopt a vegan diet and lifestyle.
I found out about it through the organizer, Lisa. I have read/listened to Will Tuttle's book "The World Peace Diet" and find his understanding of the issue to be very valuable.
I would like to meet other like-minded people who are interested in spreading compassionate awareness in their respective religious and/or spiritual communities. Outreach to the spiritual community that has not yet embraced veganism is one key area of activism which has yet to be tapped. I would also like support, community and comraderie with fellow spiritually minded vegans.
Ways to talk about veganism and spirituality to those who are not already interested or involved. Exploring the roots and history of various spiritual and religious traditions which are consistent with veganism.
Hi everyone! My name is Armaiti May. I'm a native to Southern California and have been a practicing veterinarian for about seven years now. I've been vegan since I was 18 and am passionate about spreading awareness about the plight of farmed animals.
I'm grateful to be a part of such a forward-thinking group! :)
