Tabling at Durham Latino Festival

We will be tabling at the Durham Latino Festival from 12 pm to 5 pm to reach out to the Latino population. We need several volunteers to help out. When you RSVP please let us know if you can stay the whole time or for a shorter time period.

Here is a description of the event:

Latin music lovers will "feel the music" at Durham’s Annual Latino Festival. The festival shares Latino and Hispanic traditions and folklore with Durham residents. Dance to live music, taste authentic foods, shop the marketplace for arts and crafts, and learn about health, education and employment opportunities available in the community. Children will also enjoy hands-on activities and create traditional Latin crafts.

Thanks to Karen and G for coming out to help on this rainy day! Although the turnout was a bit low due to the rain, we gave out several pamphlets and had a lot of interest in people wanting to try the recipes. A couple of people who expressed genuine interest in wanting to try more veg foods to change their health, and a woman who took several pamphlets to give to her women's group at church. Overall, a successful day!

Gave out several leaflets & had some good conversations with people who stopped by the table, or who we gave leaflets to as we walked around the festival. My son got to practice his Spanish and we enjoyed visiting with Cherry. We came up with some ideas for next time based on what other booths were doing. Recipes seemed to be the most desired information.

Glad you can make it Karen - your son will be a good help with the kids at the festival. Looking forward to it!
