This is LA's Longest Running Single Day Vegan Tradition

THE ANNUAL VEGAN THANKSGIVING DAY POTLUCK PICNIC

Once upon a time, we had up to about five hundred in attendance at this event - vegans came from far and wide as there were not many of us and we all tried to be in one place.

Twenty years ago, for instance, Los Angeles had only two totally vegan restaurants but now there are seventy-two.

It seems that wherever you turn in LA you can easily find more and more vegans. The world IS going vegan - maybe not as quickly as some of us would like it - but we have come a long way - and we are on our way!

Over the last few years, more vegan Thanksgiving traditions have begun - that is great - the more the merrier - there should be vegan Thanksgiving events everywhere - all Thanksgiving events should be vegan - last year there were at least half a dozen vegan Thanksgiving options in LA, and the choices are growing - and thus the attendance at this event has dwindled to under a couple hundred.

This, though, is the longest running once-a-year vegan tradition in Los Angeles started over twenty years ago at Westwood Park, then shifted for the last twenty years to Rancho Park, and is shifting to an even better location this year - in the San Fernando Valley - RSVP here and stay tuned for more details coming soon about the new venue.

If you choose to attend one of the other events, then we wish you well - we do especially encourage you to attend your family Thanksgiving events and help them go vegan - every Thanksgiving event truly should be vegan - but if you choose to attend with us, then we will look forward to seeing you soon and celebrating a truly conscious Thanks Giving together.

This is a particularly family friendly event - run as the event has been run for the last couple of decades by the Veg Kids organization.

Celebrate with us where all can be thankful -

including the animals we are not eating!

Gather at 11am

Opening Circle at 12pm

& Then Feasting Throughout the Afternoon

Bring a vegan dish to share, with a note card labeling the ingredients, and also with the serving utensil it needs.

Also bring your own washable, reusable, plate, cup, utensils, napkin, etc.

Special entertainment opportunities will be featured.

Bring musical instruments if you might like to play.

Bring frisbees, balls, and other park play items.

We will also have a variety of special hands-on games for the kids.

This is a particularly family friendly event.

It is a grand event, and it would be great to see you there - again, though, we do encourage you to attend your family Thanksgiving events and bring veganism to them too ;)

Focusing first on World Vegan Day - then will focus on following-up on Thanksgiving - it is going to be great, though :)

Hey all, I was wondering if this is the same event as advertised on the other vegan meetups:

"Rancho Park Vegan Potluck Picnic on Thanksgiving Day" by Century City, not far from where the 10 and 405 cross paths... I am really looking forward to going either event or both if they are the one and the same ;-)

This is the event that has been run by Veg Kids for twenty years. We had run it there on the westside for the last years, but that site is not available to be licensed/permitted this year, and thus we have shifted to this Valley venue.

I can't attend due to family commitment but it's my first vegan Thanksgiving so would love to hear some ideas of dishes to make!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
