Ask a Vegan Q & A Pizza Luncheon

Join us for this Q&A related to veganism!

There will be no speaker this time, so this meetup will be a more relaxed and unstructured lunch/discussion about veganism for those who would like advice, tips, tricks, health tips, shopping tips, ideas about how to handle dinners with non-vegan family members, how to handle disapproving family/friends when raising your children vegan, etc.  Basically how to live a joyful, healthy vegan life in an omnivorous world.

However, this isn't just for new vegans, struggling and aspiring vegans are welcome!

Since this is a restaurant, where we aren't required to pay rent, we each will need to order something, (at least a drink), in order to participate. They have vegan options and Daiya Cheese available. Speaking of food, please remember that while folks don't have to be vegan in order to be members of our group, all food and drink items brought to or ordered at our gatherings must be plant-based/vegan. Thank you for your kind cooperation with that.

This will be a fun, relaxed, and informative event!

NOTE: Since seating is limited, please don't RSVP until you are reasonably positive that you can attend. Also, we had several NO SHOWS the last time so we had more chairs than we needed. That is no fun at all. Please be fair to the organizers and honor your RSVP unless there is something unavoidable keeping you away. If that happens, please change your RSVP ASAP. If something happens at the last minute, please call me. I will be sending my number to the folks who RSVP "yes" a day or two before the event. Thank you so much for your help with having a NO NO-SHOW

I encourage everyone to read the or browse through the U.N. report "Livestock's Long Shadow." Wikipedia has a short summary of it as well.

There is a growing trend in the media to paint plant based diets as being destructive to the environment. This could not be further from the truth. While it is true that there is much environmental damage being caused by clear-cutting rainforests in order to grow food to eat, the food that is being grown is being fed to the animals that are being raised for food. An overwhelming percentage of forests are being cleared for grazing land and farmland to grow food for livestock. It is estimated that 30% of the worlds land surface is being used by the livestock industry. So following a plant based diet not only is healthier for you, it is healthier for the planet, not to mention the animals!

If you want to check out the menu ahead of time, it is at the url below. Note that this restaurant now goes by Tony P's. Googling Pasquini's will take you to other restaurants, but not this one. Thanks for noting that they have Daiya, as that is not on the on-line menu.

Sure! I appreciate your noting that they have Daiya. We should encourage them to put that on their online menu as well as inhouse menu (if it's there), as I wouldn't have thought to go there otherwise. Guess what, this year, I'm veggie for 30 years, the last 23 of that being vegan. Wow, that sounds so old! Had to say it before anyone else did, haha!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
