On facebook I saw the meet up group
I went vegan in May 2013 after being vegetarian for 10 years. I was told by my doctor not to go vegan since I had chronic stomach problems which caused me to be underweight and she was convinced that dairy was the only thing keeping weight on me. I ended up trying veganism anyways after finally deciding it was the only way I could live with myself when I got to know some retired egg hens and helped raise some lambs.(Gary Yourofsky's video really helped push me as well) Turns out as I was transitioning the days I had tiny bits of dairy I showed the same serious digestive problems as before, and eventually I ended up learning I have a casein (milk protein) allergy that was causing me to be so sick my entire life. I have become much healthier as a vegan, I no longer randomly throw up, have gained 15 lbs, and my heart burn isn't so bad that I'm limited to eating only a few hours a day. I'm very serious about veganism in both an animal rights perspective and a health perspective.
I like to try vegan food at different places, and am interested in volunteer work and protests. I've attended [circus] protests before that I believe your group was at in the past. I also am interested in visiting sanctuaries and doing things outdoors.
I'm a vegan in Fort Collins (who is in Denver and Littleton often) who wants to get to know more people who are strong believers in animal rights. I study Zoology and work at a near by vet clinic, and hope to at one point work at a farm sanctuary.
