Hi Kind MeetUp Friends,
I have gotten some feedback on the email list and I can see I wasn't clear about some things in my previous announcement.
I'm sorry for the length of this message, but please take a few minutes to read it so you will understand the situation as best as I can explain it. Hopefully we can settle in with this change and all be happy with it.
Firstly, I didn't put on the monitoring of the lists because of any specific person or any one email, and most certainly not because of requests to help Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary. In fact, I encourage everyone to help PPS, if at all possible. They provide a home for wonderful rescued farm animals and they need all the help they can get. Please contact Laura Tennison on our MeetUps or contact PPS directly, if you are able to help.
Secondly, my opinion on the email about the person who called PETA about the mommy cow in the photo that was sent out is, I don't think it was done out of spite for PPS. I certainly hope not. I think it was true concern for the mommy cow. We want people to report what they perceive might be abuse, so when there is abuse happening, it will be stopped, don't we? If there is no abuse, it will be cleared up. It's quite uncommon for people to want to get involved at all and so abuse often goes unchecked. That's a real shame. We talk about animals needing our voices so we should be true to that all around. I have no idea who reported the photo, but now that PPS has been cleared, I hope the person will consider going out there to meet and help the animals. That little momma, her baby, her friends and their care takers, all need help from our community.
Thirdly, as for the actual reasons I put the monitoring on the lists, it was because of the volume of chat going on. Most of the things sent could have been posted on the message boards in the first place, but they weren't the problem. It was the volume of responses to the whole list, rather than to the sender. Sometimes the responses need to be seen by the lists, but that mostly wasn't the case. For every long thread, not only do I receive the original messages and all responses, but I also receive notices when people quit, plus all the complaints. I don't mind, because that's my job, but I want us to be a community and I don't want any of us to feel aggravation toward each other. Hopefully this change will bring peace and will aid in important information being shared in a way where the original messages aren't lost in unnecessary commenting
I love and appreciate it when you all want to support each other with encouragement and thank yous, and I do encourage that. It can still be done for all to see on the message boards. Please take the time to look into learning how they work and how to use them. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy they are to use.
FYI - You all can still use the email list as you always have. Simply draft your message in an email and use the same address you have always used. You don't have to include a note asking me to send it, as that is implied by you sending it. When I receive it, I will send it on to the list. If there is a problem with it, I will let you know. If anyone responds to you and the response needs to be viewed by the group, I will send them on as well. If not, I will refer them to the original sender.
Please note that if your message isn't timely and containing info that is needing to be seen for that day, please use the message boards instead. You can find the links for the boards in my previous email below. This doesn't mean I will reject all messages that aren't timely, if there isn't a lot of volume and if they look like they are needing your special attention.
Lastly, this will prevent spam when a member's address book is hacked and a bad link is sent to our list addresses. That has happened a few times and I had considered changing the list just because of that. I sure wish those people would "get a life!", don't you? ;-)
I hope this message is helpful to all of you. Please let me know if you have any more questions or comments.
Have a lovely day, wonderful community!

You might want to check your profile to make sure you are signed up to receive the message board notices.
