Re: [DenverAndBeyondVeganMeetup] Garbonzo's and whey in their pita

I read somewhere that the reason why things are going gluten free vegan is that flour is processed in a very non-vegan way. I didn't look deeper, because I am allergic to gluten...so this just made sense to me. I love gluten-free products, and am convinced that gluten is poison to me for a reason, more specifically animal bi-product processing and GMO's.

Ann I second you on the gluten free vegan thing drives me nuts! Can't a vegan get a pancake with gluten in this city? Watercourse seriously disappoints me on this one, I think we need to petition for a vegan pancake with extra gluten please!

I agree, Jim, as long as they don't have gluten free vegan be the only vegan option.  I hate when places do that.  I don't have to be, need to be or want to be gluten free, so when they combine the 2, it doesn't give vegans like me, an option I want.  WaterCourse has egg pancakes and gluten free/vegan pancakes, which I don't like at all, so there is no pancake option for people like me.  The only veg breakfast place in town and I can't have a pancake.  Lots of places do that and it's too bad.  There are so many great vegan options, that restaurants won't bother to carry, because it's a bother to have both.  What is 1 more option, especially since most vegans aren't gluten free?  I don't get it.  Goodness forbid they have 2 vegan options!  Go figure!

Thank you for writing/calling, Squeaky Vegans!!

Ann,
I love Garbanzos...thanks for the heads up on their sneaking a little dairy into their pita!  I will write them too.  Plus, since they cater to the gluten free among us, they NEED to add a gluten free pita to their line up.  Lots of great fast Vegan options @: Tokyo Joes, Chipolte, Noodles & Co, Wahoo Fish Taco, Qudoba, Z pizza.
Thanks,
Jim

Always great getting fast results with nice notes on company facebook wall.  Works well.  Surely Garbanzo's Mediterranean Grill has fb wall for whey and more disclosure.

Yep, disappointing.  The are great at marking what is vegan on their labels as you move through the line, but there is no sign for the pitas at the beginning.  It is clear from their nutritional pamphlet/pdf that the pitas (white or wheat) are not vegan.  I just happened to notice this several months ago (
