As a follow-up to this discussion I sent a note to Garbanzo and just received this reply. Perhaps others have also heard from the restaurant.DougFrom: [address removed]To: [address removed]

Thank you for your feedback and inquiry into our pita ingredients. In order to maintain a product that is up to our quality standards, we choose to include whey in our pita recipe. As an alternative to the pita, however, we recommend trying our vegan-friendly laffas - you can order them as a wrap or on the side of an entree plate.
We are very grateful for our vegan fans, and to stay true to them and other guests with special dietary needs, we clearly identify our products in our restaurants and on our website helping them choose items that fit their diets. We hope these efforts help you customize your meal each time you visit a Garbanzo.
Thank you again for reaching out.

Like many people, I have found Garbanzo’s vegan options a welcome feature of your menu. I encourage you to keep these options and to expand them. Recently, I heard that the ingredients for the whole wheat pita includes whey. Please find a vegan alternative! I am very health conscious and am actively trying to reduce arterial plaque. Dairy byproducts are a major contributor to build up of such plaque.
Thank you for such a great dining option!
