Miyoko Schinner has a new book out on vegan cheese - here's a link to her website.  I met her at John McDougall's when I interned with him, she did some cooking demos at his 10-day program.  She is great!!!

Hi Becks,

Here's a link with some store bought vegan cheese suggestions, and on her home page are some homemade vegan cheese cookbook recommendations.

I have had some delicious homemade cashew crock cheese, but I don't know where the recipe went. I think it was in my Uncheese cookbook, which I loaned out, but never saw again.

(ignore the nonvegan ads)

If I find that cashew crock cheese recipe, I'll send it along.

Ann

I agree.  It’s a great book.  She was also a wonderful speaker at last year’s veg fest.  If she comes back this year, don’t miss her.

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to recommend an inspiring book for both newbie and seasoned vegans called,  "Mainstreet Vegan", by Victoria Moran.  Victoria is the real deal!  A vegan and animal activist for over 30 years, her book is kind, compassionate and knowledgeable.  Endorsed by Michael Moore, Russell Simmons, Ellen and me:)  I met Victoria in NY 2 year ago and by her power of example, I transitioned from vegetarian to vegan.  Would make a great x-mas gift or New Year resolution for anyone! Check it out on Amazon.

I look forward to meeting you all soon.

Hi everyone,
I have been asked by a few members for some animal and earth friendly gift  ideas for the holidays so I thought I would put together a list for our community.

Sponsoring an animal:
My favorite -because don't we all have too much stuff... Your recipient will get an "adoption certificate and updates on their fur family) Sanctuaries differ on how many updates you get so check with each one.

Vegan sweets:

Vegan magazine subscription

Veg friendly books for children

Gift certificates for vegan online retailers:

Vegan cookbooks- too many to list.

A basket of cruelty free and vegan bodycare products (be sure to check that in addition to not being tested on animals your products are also vegan in ingredients)

Earth and animal friendly jewlery:

Do you have any additions? Send them my way and I will add to the list.

I look forward to seeing some of you at our upcoming cookie exchange, our first singing/music potluck and our first ever New Years Eve party--

For compassionate holidays, and all days,
Lisa
