Last minutes posting for canyoneering.
Please do not express interest in attending this trip unless you are positive you can make it. There are only a limited number of permits, and I don't want to waste any. The charge will be $20.00 per person to cover camping and permits.
Pine Creek is a technical slot canyon that is not only spectacular, but it has an easy off the highway entrance and a fairly easy exit. These two factors make it a popular slot canyon even though the actual slot is just as difficult as many of Zion slot canyons. The lighting in the cathedral of Pine Creek creates a mystical setting in the bowels of the canyon that draws canyoneers through its passage time and time again.

Keyhole Canyon is a wonderful skinny slot canyon adventure with an easy and quick approach and exit.

Optional gear:

Although these canyon are considered easy, you do need rappel experience to complete these canyons.
The plan:
Meet at the Cannery Casino on Friday at 5:30. If some people want to leave early, I will make arrangements for the camp sites.
Wake up early Saturday morning head to the trail head and rent gear if needed. We will use 3 cars to set up a simple car shuttle.
There will probably be time for a hike in the afternoon.
Camp Saturday night. Pack up camp in the morning and be ready to head out to the trail head by 9am. The trail head and trail end are at the same place. This is a short canyon that should only take a couple hours.
After the canyon, we can go on a hike, some something else to do or head home.
Note: I have not done either of these canyons. Please bring patience.
If you have any questions, contact me.

Ok, we have our group. All 8 permits are now filled. If something comes up, please let me know ASAP so I can try to find a replacement.
yippeeee!!! i was looking at another hot weekend in vegas, hang'n w/ u guys in wet canyons sounds way more fun!! see u guys friday afternoon at the cannery, i have a jeep grand cherokee and don't mind driving or i can car pool whatever the group needs.
If the temps are in the 90s or higher you won't need a wetsuit for Keyhole. It's just not that long of a canyon. Pine Cr neither if you move fast. If you go slow, then suit up. Watch ropes on last rap in Pine Cr and enjoy the great swimming holes on the hike out.
Thanks for the info, Kelly! It looks like it's going to be about 100 in Zion. There is a 20% chance of storms on Saturday.
Everyone is on their own for food. There are several places to eat in Springdale.
What facilities are at the camp ground?
Water, bathroom, fire?
Especially water, is there water availabel at the camp site?
All of the sites have a fire pit. There are bathrooms and water at the bathrooms. No showers that I know of.
Weather update: monsoon season is upon us. I was just told there is a 30% chance of rain for Saturday. We want to make sure that we head out nice and early so we don't end up caught in a storm in a canyon. It's going to be right around 100 outside. The person I spoke to couldn't tell me about the water temp, so use your own judgment.
Weather forcast I just looked at for this weekend in Zion National Park called for HIGHS=95 LOWS=72
It will even be cooler in Vegas this weekend.
Bring the wetsuit, but I doubt you'll need it. I'm bringing one. We'll figure out carpools at the Cannery.
i had a wonderful time, thx to all of u,
shin, u take great pics!

Looked into gear package w/ wetsuit, canyoneering boots/socks, staff for $30-$45 depending on outfitter. Optional, but will make swimming more comforable. Happy to know raps are bolted! :)
