Members Choice, I Am Planning A Workshop.

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • Hey Guys I want to plan another workshop and want it to be one where lots of people can attend. The more participation the more we can do.

I want to be able to hire some great models, makeup artists, stylists and be able to pay for the studio all from the proceeds of the students. I have done this in the past, but it has come out of my pocket. I am not complaining, I am just stating facts.

In the past we have had lots of people sign up and either drop out at the last-minute or not even bother to show up at all.

Based on the feedback from the people who attend, they all seem to enjoy the content I am offering as well as the one on one training I offer when we do the open shoot part of the class with the models.

So, with all that said, I am interested to hear what class you want to be a part of, the day and time that works best for you. The length of class as well as the price you feel comfortable paying.

The class can be on anything photography related. It can be Lightroom, Photoshop, it can be basic camera functions, speedlights, hot lights, studio strobes, working with specific modifiers, learning grip (setup and teardown), posing, working with film cameras, basically anything you want to learn I will teach you. If you choose something I don't know, I will bring in a guest that does know.

We have 220 members of this group. If we can just get 25-35 people that can commit to an event, we can have a great time and learn some stuff.

Thanks for taking time to respond. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Thomas Shue

I'd love to see 3 "stations". One working with one light; one with high key lighting, with models in exaggerated make up, clothing; a third set up for simply head shots, where we can work on each others for our web pages, etc. I suggest about 3 hours in length, $50 a person.

The concept is great, I cant see doing it for $50. Three models and three setups. A ton of gear and not much time. How it might work is not as a class, but I could set up a shooting gallery and not give instruction, just hire a bunch of models and let yall go crazy.

I am always down with a workshop with Tom - master of all things photography.
I recently got lights and I would like to know more about multi light setups (speed light) & the AC3 controller and an in-depth posing workshop would be the shiz.
I am open any day, with the right notice & I like $50-$150. I prefer more time than less, so with some instruction (not too much) & some hands on, we can kill 6 hours fast. I like to see set ups & would like more time making the shot.
You have covered patterns and modifiers and it might be nice to put some of that to paper and do hand outs, that way we can get into that in PDF with some instruction and some shooting - a great take away!
I have been struggling with getting close-ups - like detail shots that you see in wedding portfolios - so if I can get help getting a handle on that - boom - it is worth the money right there!!!
Glad you are doing another workshop - I have been itchin to get out with some shooters and make great images!

I am actually putting something like this together for July 27th. We can colaborate and set a fee for this workshop.. We have 15 -25 girls booked so plenty of models, Makeup artist etc. We can also get a local commercial artist to come and give small individual 45 minute lessons on solving issues and learning techniques.. ex... If Wcm wants some help on posing models, he would take our local expert, compensate him $40 - $50 bucks on a crash course in posing models... small price to pay to get a better image.

My husband works a lot, so as long as I have notice I can make sure he can watch her. Otherwise, I'll be looking for a sitter. :)

Hi! Well, I've been in Vegas 3 weeks and I stumbled across this group. I've been dying to learn more about using speedlights - indoor and outdoor. Most days and times would work for me. Thanks!

I would like another lesson on Speedlights, now that I have two. Also, workflow and basic editing. How to make a watermark, oh there is so much I need to learn! $50-75 fits my budget.

I would like to learn more about how to shoot outside (or inside) in not so perfect light. Friday, Saturday, or Sunday works best for me, and I would also like it to be 4-5 hours long. I am also in the $50 - $100 range.

I am interested in all aspects of working in the studio. Models, hair and make-up and learning grip. I can handle a price point of $50 to $100. I would like to see an all day workshop instead of just a couple of hours. Any day of the week is fine.

    Hi Tom:
These are all great topics & I would be interested in attending. I would like to gain more experience and knowledge on working in a studio environment with models.

    Good Evening Thomas,
I'm interested in several of the items you mentioned above. Lightroom, Photoshop and lighting (studio and speed lights) are my main points at the moment. As far as price point I am would feel comfortable anywhere from[masked] or so depending on the length and subjects of the workshop.
    Thanks for your time.
