=== Camping ===
We will hike up from the North Loop trailhead on Deer Creek Road (Highway 158). The trail switchbacks steeply up a bristlecone-covered hillside to a highpoint, then runs along a ridge to the Raintree, the 3000-year-old tree that stands over the intersection of the North Loop and Mummy Spring trails. At this point, we have hiked about 2.7 miles, gaining about 1500 feet. Then leave North Loop trail and follow Mummy Springs trail. Hike down about 15 minutes toward our camp site on the eastern side of ridge before the avalanche chute and spring. It may take about 2-3 hours to get there.

The elevation of Camp site is about 9,950 ft and its about 8,000 ft higher than Las Vegas City. That means its 25-30 degrees cooler than the city. Please bring extra layer for night/early morning. The temperature may range from 45-75 degrees (plus a brisk wind and rain is always possible).

Bring Saturday lunch(snack), Dinner and Sunday Breakfast. You have to bring cooking stove/pot/pan. Camp fire is restricted.

Bring enough water for the hike in (2-4 liters). You should NOT need to bring the extra 10 pounds of water for camping.
We should be able to filter our drinking water from Mummy Spring which is about 10 minutes from Raintree. We can share water filters - bring one if you have one. (I will bring mine)

Since this is NOT car camp, you MUST bring and carry everything you need to survive one night in the middle of mountain. Tent, Sleeping bag/pad, cooking stove/pot/pan, dish/cup, poncho, flash light/head lamp, food/snack, water, jacket, extra socks etc...
Please do NOT bring ice box, fire wood, ax, gun, radio, tv, PS3 etc...
Alchole is OK, but don't bring it in glass containers.

=== Optional Hike ===
On Saturday, I will lead a hike to Fletcher Peak. that is only 1.3 miles from camp site. Its easy hike and gain only 500 ft. All class 1-2 scramble no exposure.

On Sunday, I will lead a hike to Mummy Mtn. Peak that is only 1.5 miles from camp site. But its very strenuous hike and gain more than 1,600 ft. Class 2-3 scramble plus minor exposure. I won't take ordinary route since many snow still remains on the route.

Those hike are OPTIONAL and you don't have to join if you don't want.
If you want to join the hike. you may need waist bag/small backpack to carry water/snack for the hiking.

Lets meet at Starbucks on Hwy 95/Durango (Farm Rd) on 9:00AM. We will leave by 9:15AM and carpool to trail head. Please make sure your driver will/wont hike on Sunday.
We will be back to the city by 4PM on Sunday even you hike to Mummy Peak.

    >David : That East face route was NOT standard East face route. I took different way because I knew there are lots of snow on the route.
    Anyway, it was fun route.

    Everyone shows up and it was a great company to hike/camp with. We climbed Fletcher and Mummy both. Wish we could make a camp fire, so we could have great time on the evening. But if it happend, we would miss the Mummy hike on Sunday. Yeah, Debbie couldn't see me say 'hi' because we were toooo fast (and too far from them).

    It was cold that night but bearable. I had a good time even though I couldnt adjust to the elevation during the hike. I'd do it again though. :) Of course, you get Daren and I together with Debbie and we had an awesome time. Glad I was bumped up from the waiting list.

    We took the east side route to Mummy Mountain. A little bushwacking involved but more direct than the standard west side route. Great time, thanks Shin!

    I wish it was possible to give more than 5 stars. Good times.
