Mummy's Tummy and Toe

Its almost end of the Summer season for Mt.Charleston Area. Since its high elevation, those peaks are 25 - 30 degrees cooler than the City. You can feel the Fall is coming soon.

Mummy Mtn. Peak (11,542 ft)is the 2nd highest peak in the Southern Nevada Area. Its only 400 ft lower than Mt.Charleston Peak, but its only half the distance.
Mummy Mtn has 5 major peaks. Mummy's Forehead, Nose, Chin, Tummy (Peak) and Toe. It really looks like Mummy from SR-95.

We are going to summit the Tummy (the highest point) and Toe.
About 30% of this hike is NOT on the trail. Most of off trail part are class 2 -3 scramble with some minor exposure. If you are not confortable with exposure, you shouldn't join.

Bring lots of water, food/snacks, cap/hat, sunglass, sunscreen and gloves.
Since its under monsoon season, you must bring rain gear(poncho) even its sunny. Mountain weather changes in a second. Rain won't kills you but cold temperature will kill you!
It will be bit chilly at the Peak, so please bring light jacket.

Let's meet at Starbuck's (95/Durango) on 7:00AM.
Plan to carpool and riders should chip in $5-$6 for gas.

Are we doing the toe or tummy first? I'd hate to go up that scree field if I don't get to ski down it.

I'm still thinking which going first. Because the East face route is not easy to climb up too.

    >Karland : Is that means Chris's group doesn't go to Mummy's Toe?

Karland, I'm going to stick with Shin's group on this one. I've been to Mummy's tummy several times...but have not been to the toe yet.

I will take majority vote that which way goes (scree slope up to the Tummy first or east face up to the Toe first) at the meeting place. I really don't mind which way we go first.

Start at Sunny and warm. Then cloudy on theway to the Tummy. Got thunder loared at the peak. Then got hail on the way down. And Lots of rain at last half mile. Fortunately we didn't get rain or hit by lightning at the Peak. Great company to hike with. Enjoyed all day. Thanks everyone.

Awesome hike! We got a little of everything: rain, hail, thunder, lightning, ambulances whizzing by, climbing, scrambling, wonderful landscapes and a great workout. Thanks Shin!

Under chivalrous leadership of Chin who made sure that everybody is safe and sound, we survived being struck by the lightning, the rain pouring on us and had a lot of fun on the way. Great hike! Thanks everybody!
