Starbucks @ 215/Cheyenne (map)
Looking for a nice little challenge this Sunday, why not join me in hiking Summerlin Peak. It’s in the far Northwest at the end of Cheyenne at the 215. The hike itself is not to long but at points it’s very steep, where you may have to scramble up on all fours, I highly recommend gloves! This is not a hike for beginners, but it is an up and back, so we can catch you on the way back down if need be!
We’ll be meeting at the Starbucks in the last plaza on Cheyenne before the 215. I’ll be in a silver Jeep Liberty covered in stickers!
From Shin’s Summerlin Peak Hike back in February
There is no trail on this hike. We hike dry wash for first 1.3 miles then start climbing steep hill. Its all class 2 scramble but very steep. 1,600 ft elevation gain in 0.7 miles.
There are no major exposure but couple of minor one. Its about 5 miles round trip and more than total of 2,300 ft elevation gain. Its little bit harder than standard Turtlehead Peak Hike. Sorry, but this is NOT a beginner's hike.
We will hike moderate pace. But if you can't keep up with group pace or give up on the way up, I will pick you up on the way down.

Those two 4 legged hikers were awesomely fast and fleet footed, they kicked our bipedal collective butts. I think that they are ready for Everest now. If I need to be rescued though, I still prefer a St. Bernard, as they can carry a larger quantity of rum under their chins than the little fellers can.
