It seems getting bit chilly on this coming Saturday. So, I have decided to go lower elevation for hiking.
Its located by Lake Mead and warmer than Red Rock Canyon.
We are going to hike famous Anniversary Narrows. I think many of our hiking group member have already done this beautiful slot canyon hike.
This time, we hike trough the Anniversary Narrows then climb up to Anniversary Narrows Peak.
Its another 2 miles and about 900 ft elevation gain. Its sounds easy but the last mile to the Peak is steep and loose. Its still easier than Turtle Head Peak. Its all class 2 and couple of easy class 3 scramble part. No big exposure.
We can see great Bowl of Fire view from the peak.
After we take a little break at the Peak, we descend into Bowl of Fire. Another short but very steep down hill climb for 900 ft.
We walk through the Bowl of Fire for 1.5 miles and head back to the Trail head.
Its about 10 miles round trip and total of 1,400 ft elevation gain. We will hike moderate pace.
We are encouraged to hike only in the bottom of the dry wash at some part.
Because the side slopes are often covered with a macrobiotic cryptogamic 'living soil', which is severely damaged just by walking on it. And Damage to this soil can lead to erosion.
Some dry wash is very narrow and we have to hike in single file.
Bring lots of water, food/snacks, cap/hat, sunglass, and gloves(to save your hand).
Trekking pole is helpful, especially at down hill climb.
Let's meet at Albertson's Parking Lot @ South East corner of Hollywood & Lake Mead Blvd. at 9:00AM.
No Kids, No Dogs, No cats please!
If you want to bring a guest, please let me know your guests hiking ability or I won't allow them. (for their safety is the reason)

Hey Gene, anyone ever tell you that you look like Michael Berryman?
Branch Whitney is leading the hike to Anniversary Narrows Peak on Friday. If you are going with Skip's group to the Anniversary Narrows, you can go with Branch Whitney.
Hey Gene, here's Michael Berryman! I think you'll see the resemblance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Berryman![]()
