It's cooling down a bit at night and I thought it might be fun to do a Full Moon Hike this month and since I haven't done Lone Mountain in quite a while... it made the cut. This is a great hike for beginners, but it's pretty steep in some places and only you can decide your own fitness level. The view from the top is spectacular so well worth the moderate effort! We will stay on the trail for the whole hike and go at a sociable pace taking breaks as needed. Bring sturdy comfortable shoes, water, dress in layers in case there's a cold wind up there, A LIGHT (It will be dark!), some hiker's determination, and plenty of smiles to share during this very sociable hike .
Hope you can join us!
TO GET TO LONE MOUNTAIN, take the 215 Beltway to the Lone Mountain exit and go East. Turn RIGHT on Jensen St. We'll be meeting at the parking lot on the SOUTH side (far side) of the park.
Alternately, if you're coming from US-95, exit at Craig Road and head West. The Park and the mountain are a few miles straight ahead. Turn Left on Jensen (Craig dead ends at the park), then right at the South End of the park into the parking lot.

Happy Hikers ...
Leave no trace: No trash, no food or pet waste. Stay on marked trails; no shortcuts or cutting switchbacks. Take nothing but photos.
RSVP with integrity! If you no-show, you might get blocked from future hikes.
Hike single file or stick to the right half of a wide trail. Yield to faster and smaller groups. Uphill hikers have the right of way. Whenever you pause, move off to the side so there's room to pass.
Greet people we meet, invite them to join us! ;-)
Drink 16 oz. of water per hour. Even if you're not thirsty, you should be hydrating; you don't feel the water loss until its too late.
Avoid cramps, fatigue and wobbles with electrolytes and potassium (ex: Banana, Clif Shot, Gatorade, Emergen-C, etc.)
Sunblock is essential, hats and sunglasses are terrific.
Carpool when possible. It's good for your wallet and the environment, and we avoid maxing out the parking spaces. Pay your fair share to the driver.
Hikes are free, but you should share the cost of travel and park fees, and support the group when you can. Where do the $1's go?
