Turtle Head Peak via Calico Basin

Let's summit the TURTLE HEAD PEAK !! But, NOT A STANDARD ROUTE from Sand stone quary.
We'll start from Calico Basin and scramble up the Turtle Head from East face.(opposite side from standard route)
Compare this route with standard one, its about 1.5 times longer and elevation gain plus couple of class 3 scramble.
After we summit the peak, we'll come down from normal route and come back to the Calico Basin.

Since this is off trail hike and many scrambles, I don't recommend this for Begginer hikers.
Its a loop trail and we won't pick you up on the way back.
Please send me an email if you are not sure you can make it or not.

Bring lots of water, food/snacks, cap/hat, sunglass, sunscreen, jacket, rain gear(poncho) and gloves.

Let's meet at Kraft Mt. Trailhead at 9:00AM.
How to get Trailhead:
Drive Charleston Blvd to the west and pass 215 beltway. Keep driving for another 3.8 miles and you will see 'Red Springs / Calico Basin Drive' sign on your right. (If you see Red Rock Canyon scenic Drive Entrance, you came too far)
Turn right at Calico Basin Drive and go all the way down to the end (about 1.9 miles from turn out).

Stats:
Hike: Turtle Head Peak from Calico Basin - Closed Loop
Trailhead: Calico Basin Kraft Mt. Trailhead
Distance: 7.5 miles
Hike Pace: Moderate (1.5 - 2 mph)
Total Elevation gain: 3,000 feet
Elevation peak: 6,323 feet (Turtle Head Peak)
Time: 5 to 6 hours
Difficulty: 3 - 4 (Intermediate - Challanging)

No Kids, No Dogs and No Guests Please!

    >Miki ... You have made Mummy Mt.Peak (3,600 ft elevation gain) with us. Also you have made Summerlin Peak too. I think you can make this one with your TENNIS shoes.

Hello all, I'm now not anymore in the waiting list, that's cool !

I don't have car, I'm wondering if somebody can carpool me for example at the terminus of 206 bus (the bus arrived at 08:30am) which is red rock ressort, around the crossroad of S pavillon center dr and W charleston Blvd (it is the nearest achievable with public transport) ? Thank you all !

The weather was a big concern, but it was Beautiful and not even one drip of rain. All the hiker was in good shape and climbed up waaaay faster than I have expected. Climbed up 2hour 10minutes and finished in 4hours 45minutes (including rest stop at the peak). It was one of the best group I have ever hiked.
