Barb Hulick, one of my greatest friends and a past and still defacto member of our hiking group, will be back in town on a visit and asked me to take her on a great hike. So I chose...Terrace Canyon...in the Pine Creek area of Red Rock.

This is a gorgeous area, and with the rain and snow we've had this winter, I'm hoping we'll be treated to some beautiful waterfalls and sparkling pools. I can't attest to conditions. We should be prepared to cross water repeatedly. So be adventurous. Be Flexible. And be Prepared! When you enter the canyon through its relatively small opening, you're struck by an expansive, and stunningly beautiful environment.
Here are pictures from my Scouting Sortie last November:

It's about 6 miles round trip, and about 1200 feet elevation change. That doesn't sound that tough, (and it's not...really) but there's a lot of bouldering it feels fairly long. It'll take us 5-6 hours. This is not for beginners. Average hikers will feel challenged. Hard core folks...just do Charleston Peak barefoot again before all the snow melts.
Bring some hiker's determination, plenty of water, sturdy/comfortable shoes (maybe a change of socks), snacks, your camera, and definitely an appreciation of the natural beauty of which this place abounds.
I hope you'll join me.

Does anyone else know this hike? There's so many of us that want to go, we should just get another group together. If you do , email me please at mindyrace@hotmail.com. We could just meet an hour earlier... Thanks, Mindy
