The only known route to Rainbow Peak was technical until we found the ledges and these ledges have big time exposure! Not many have made it to the summit of Rainbow Peak. The route starts in Juniper Canyon, ascends Gunsight Notch and then does a long traverse above Pine Creek Canyon to Rainbow Wall. Here you creep out to the edge and look down 1,200 feet into Juniper Canyon! From there the route follows a series of ledges and ramps descending 200 feet to a notch. From there it's an easy (do I know the meaning of that word?) stroll to the summit.
For added fun we will descend the Rainbow Peak without the Ledges route, the best route in Red Rock. You must be able to handline down a rope and pull yourself up a rope. This is Red Rock at it's finest!
Kids, dogs, and beginners are welcome... NOT!
