The first film in the Disneynature series, "earth," narrated by James Earl Jones, tells the remarkable story of three animal families and their amazing journey across the planet we call home. "earth" combines rare action, unimaginable scale and impossible locations by capturing the most intimate moments of our planet's wildest and most elusive creatures. Directors Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, the acclaimed creative team behind the Emmy Award-winning "Planet Earth," combine forces again to bring this epic adventure to the big screen, beginning Earth Day 2009.

Join Vegetarians of Central Florida at a free, exclusive showing of the film in partnership with Central Florida Earth Day sponsor Disneynature. Don't miss this incredible movie at absolutely no cost!

The film starts at 7:30 p.m., but please arrive by 7:00 p.m. to ensure that you have a seat. VegCF has been provided with 200 passes good for two people each. We expect to fill the 283-seat theater.

This film is entirely live-action, with some incredible shots of wildlife. They used new camera technology that basically uses jitter-compensated telephoto lenses, so they got close-up shots of the animals from a mile away. You can see the animals behaving as they would without any human disruption. I've watched a lot of the footage with kids ranging in age from 2 to 10, and they all got something out of it. The carnivore scenes aren't too gruesome.

       a) No mention about evolution. For those who believe in God and the Bible's teaching of creation, that was pleasantly surprising. b) Chase scenes transitioned before showing the blood of the kill. Again, refreshing that Disney didn't force the audience to suffer through the typical violence and gore. c) Excellent variety of natural footage from land and sea, with great sound track.

The photography is spectaular. It is a must see movie just for the photography. Enjoyed the few clips on how the movie was made. It is a Disney movie, so the message about the continual degredation of the enviroment is light weight. To Disney's credit however, the impact of global warming on the polar bears is emphsized.

It was very informitive. I was shocked about the cycle of life that occurs everyday. My partner and I felt sorry for the bear other animals that did not make it alive. I see the earth is cruel but fair. I do see where paradise does come and where earth changes does causes loss of live. I will see it again on April 22. My parter and I was impressed on how they filmed it and how they caught the action at real time and bigger in life photos. The movie that Gore done was good too and I pray that Disney will continue to do these types of films so we the people can be informed and then be able to react in a way to help the earth to make positive changes. thanks james Jones/Norma Young
