Please join us as we take a trip to Ocala to meet some cows, pigs, chickens, goats, horses and more at Kindred Spirits Sanctuary. Kindred Spirits is a non-profit farm animal sanctuary that cares for neglected, abused, unwanted, or displaced farm animals through the end of their natural lives. Click here for more info. We will take a tour of the farm at 10:30 am, have a picnic lunch, then help them around the farm afterward - so wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Click here for recommendations on what to wear/bring.
Bring your friends and family - this is a great way to get them to "meet their meat" in a no-pressure, positive way. Kids are welcome on the tour. This is such a great opportunity to interact with the sentient beings we choose to respect by not eating them. I have been told that the animals at the sanctuary are VERY friendly, and I can't wait for us to meet them!
If you would like to car-pool, we will meet at Infusion Tea on Edgewater at 8:30am, leaving there at 8:45. If you don't want to pack a vegan picnic, I can order box lunches for $8 including a drink (hummus and veggie wrap) from Infusion. (The sanctuary asks that any food we consume there be vegan.) You MUST email me by Friday evening the 4th if you would like a box lunch. We will send out a reminder a week before.
I will have directions printed to give you if you meet for the car-pool, or email me by the 4th. The owner of the sanctuary says that MapQuest, etc. is not quite accurate.
Let's all try to bring an item donation to thank them for their time and great work. Click here for wish list items. They would also like to add doggie grooming brushes to that list.
Email Jessi with any questions.
