River Cleanup with Alexandra Cousteau and Keep Seminole Beautiful and Eco-Action

Alexandra Cousteau (granddaughter of Jacques-Yves Cousteau) will be in Sanford on Marina Island at 3:00 PM on the 17th of September (a Friday) to participate in a river clean-up with many local environmental notables as a part of her international Expedition Blue Planet. The team is on a 14,500-mile journey across North America to investigate global water issues "in the backyard" of one of the world's leading economies. Living, working and exploring water stories together, Alexandra and her team will use everything from the underwater gear invented by her grandfather to the latest in satellite technology and live social media to bring the thrill of adventure and the wonders of nature to audiences across the globe.

Local notables who will be present include but are not limited to: Michelle Thatcher, Alligator Princess; Bill Belleville, author & documentary film maker; Mary Sue Weinaug, owner of Wekiva Island and President-Elect of Keep Seminole Beautiful (she's bringing some canoes); Beth Hollenbeck, Eco-Action who has done just short of 600 river clean-ups (she brings 11 one-person canoes with her wherever she goes) and more.

Please call Mike Barr for more details at[masked]

Feel free to take your own canoe or kayak, but if you RSVP by Thursday morning and indicate in your RSVP that you will be canoeing, we will reserve you a canoe!

Had a lovely time watching Ross and Larry maneuver the canoe in choppy waters whilst I sauntered on dry land. 5 STARS!

We had a great turnout and a great time! I'm amazed that eight of us showed up on a weekday afternoon with three days' notice! It was great to meet some of the other groups in town that help animals. Hopefully a lot of you can attend the VegCF Wekiva Spring canoe trip next saturday.

We'll schedule a VegCF canoe cleanup sometime soon, but until then everyone should check Eco Action's schedule:

I was so excited - I thought Alligator Princess was a genetic mutant like the Human Centipede and badger girl. I then googled it and was proven terribly wrong. :'''( Well, still going anyway.
