VegCF First Monday Vegan Potluck

We are excited to announce the NEW LOCATION of VegCF's monthly vegan potluck! Starting this month, we will hold our potlucks at the First Unitarian Church of Orlando. We enjoyed the last fifteen months at Dandelion, but the cafe will soon be open on Monday evenings. Our potlucks have also outgrown Dandelion's front room, sometimes spilling over into the back rooms and onto the front patio. To make it easier for everyone to meet new people, we found a larger space that will let everyone eat together in one room. The new location is less than a mile from the old location, and it's the same distance from downtown Orlando. There are plenty of bike-friendly streets in the area, and several Lynx links run right through the area. Best of all, there is a gorgeous park a few hundred feet from the new location. We encourage everyone who has time beforehand to arrive early and enjoy Dickson Azalea Park and Langford Park.

Please join us the first Monday of every month for a vegan potluck!

Everyone is invited! This is a GREAT way to introduce your veg-curious friends to the delights of homemade vegan cuisine. Join us with a covered vegan dish (or a $10 donation if you don't make a dish) to the First Unitarian Church of Orlando. There is no cost if you take a dish, but we ask for a $10 donation if you do not take a dish.

Please take a complete ingredient list (and the recipe instructions if you care to share them), and please be sure that your dish is vegan (no animal products or byproducts).

If you know what you plan to make, please list it in your RSVP, so we can plan for a good variety of food.

Its an ancient family recipe from the islands so I cant give it away, I will however sell it to the highest bidder. I kid. On another note I seem to have traded somebody's glass lid that would fit on an eight-inch ceramic bowl. I dont mind but the lid I brought home was is slightly fancier than mine. Let me know.

Charlie told me his recipe was from a Lorna Sass cookbook, but here it is on the web:

Steve -- if you go early to walk the parks, don't forget the church labyrinth. It is kind of on the way before you cross the street to the park. http://orlandouu.org/index.php?...

This was our best potluck yet! All of the food was amazing, and the larger space gives us plenty of room to grow! Next month I'll get there early for a stroll through the park before dinner!

I think it's your profile picture, Cara. It's hard to take anything seriously when it's coming from someone so dead sexy!

My grandfather is a WWII survivor and author of a book about his 3 years spent in a concentration camp. So YES, I'm Jewish. And NO, I'm absolutely not offended if people thought I was joking - I know I have total shiksappeal!!! :) LMAO

Thank you for the info Cat. I think that is a valid concern for some people. Cara was just being Cara... I'm not sure if she is actually Jewish or just yanking our chains.

This is Cat, chair of the Green Team that is hosting VegCF here. I wanted to answer a concern. Please note that it is in the school building, not the Church Sanctuary. Unitarians also come in all types... even UU Jewish. 25% of UU's draw from Jewish tradition. :)

You are certainly welcome here. Best wishes, Cat
