Tiffin is an old-English word for a light meal, and eventually became the name for a multi-compartment metal lunch box. Tiffin Wallah, in India, translates as “one who carries the box.” Tiffin Wallahs originated over a century ago when the many Indians working for British companies disliked the food that was served at work. The original idea eventually evolved into an amazing lunch delivery system in India. The restaurant, Tiffin Wallah now brings this concept to New York City.
The South Indian totally vegetarian/kosher lunch buffet offered is fantastic and reasonable and contains various curries, rices, breads, salads and desserts.
