King's Ridge Road - Cazadero

A classic ride up North although a bit late in the year for this one. Weather permitting, we will do a 65-mile loop starting in Guerneville, proceed to Cazadero and then start climbing King's Ridge. There are lots of ups and downs on the way up, so it's not a consistent grade. This is a tough ride and you should comfortable with steep grades and lots of vertical - about 7000' in the middle of nowhere.

Mark Miller and I will be leading this one and carpooling from the city. If others are interested, we can set up a time to meet in Guerneville. At this time, the plan is to do this ride on Sunday - since Daylight Savings is ending that weekend, we will need to get a reasonably early start.

Nice pics. 18% grade and live music at the waterfront. What else does one need for a good weekend?

that was a stunning ride, filled with unparalleled beauty, quad busting LONG STEEP pitches and very technical descents in remote parts of Sonoma County. I'm toast today, it's gonna take a while to recover from that one. great group of cyclists, thanks to all for keeping a constant pace and the miles of laughs. let me try this again.... "rural residential rollers, rural residential rollers, rural residential rollers!!"

All - The plan is to meet at the Safeway parking lot in Guerneville by 9:30am and be on the road no later than 9:45! Please be ready to roll at 9:30, you can call me at[masked] if you are running late. At this moment, I am carpooling with Mark & Mike G. driving from Oakland into the city at 7:30. If it makes sense, we can switch things up but we probably need to coordinate on the phone since I am not checking email much today. Call me if you want to suggest another carpool plan. I believe Amy is joining us from the South Bay but is not on this forum, I do not have here contact info but I believe Mark M does if you want to coordinate another carpool with her.

My mobile is[masked] in case we need to get in touch tomorrow. See you tomorrow at Guerneville. An extra bike carrier is open if anyone signs up at last minute and wants to carpool.

thanks Michael. I'll ride back in your car so you don't have to ride home alone. I have no doubt that tomorrow's gonna be Velo Paradiso!

I hurt my back pretty bad last night in a drunken stupor. I managed to do 60mi on the bike today but I can't currently lay down the watts.

Count me as a maybe, I'll see how I'm feeling in the AM. Don't wait up if you don't hear from me in the morning.

I don't know if you've done this route but if any route is an awesome do-over, this is it.

follow the ride's header, whatever it says at Sunset the night before the ride is what we do. Mike McG can contact me to change it. right now it says 9am in Guerneville. wait a day to finalize carpools, more people might sign up. we have more car seats than cyclists, nothing to worry about. where's that dude with the orange helmet? btw we should try to get the bikes off the cars and get rolling faster than we did at the Peninsula ride. that will help our schedule.

I want to start a new thread about carpooling options.

I have a car with an extra bike carrier from San Francisco. Looks like we need to leave by 7:15 am at the latest to make it to meeting point by 9 am. I can take one person+bike with me or I can carpool with another driver with extra passenger/bike capacity.

    Any taker?

Maybe we should set up a carpooling form on VeloParadiso.com? This might be the most effective way for future rides.

      That would be pretty cool.

Sean, good to see you're coming along! Although the time above is listed as 9am, I think the consensus is to meet at 9:30am in Guerneville. Not totally sure about this, however. Mike G / Mike McG?

Looks like Mike G and Mark M will be carpooling with me. My car is maxed out with three people and bikes. I think Amy is meeting us in Guerneville - and could possibly carpool if there are any other takers? Paul is wimping out because he is only riding 200km the day before!

I may take up this challenge if you wouldn't mind waiting up for the heavy dude at the top of the hill. I have a car with a two bike rack.

it looks like this idea is all set up, are you ready for it to be announced to the group?

I'd love to do this ride. I have a 200km ride on Del Puerto Canyon with the San Francisco Randonneurs on Saturday, so my legs won't be up to it. But as a founder of Levi's Gran Fondo I know this area well. Definitely hard-core riding.
