This meetup is for yogis interested in participating in Kirtans and who are interested in Bhakti yoga. These kirtans will be organized at Aanand Saagar, a donation based wellness center in Venice. You can find details of these kirtans as well as other yoga events on www.aanandsaagar.com. Bhakti yoga is the yoga of love and devotion. It is used as a means of liberation, as a way for the soul to connect directly to the divine. By opening the self into union with the highest ideal, the purpose of life is fulfilled. Kirtans are a great way to celebrate this simple and direct practice. It is about experiencing the divine rather than discussing about the divine, it is feeling devotion with the heart. Kirtan is a call-and-response, participatory sacred sound practice that originated in India many centuries ago, and was practiced traditionally by a diversity of India's spiritual traditions, including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, etc. In the 20th century, kirtan was introduced to the western hemisphere by many of the yoga masters that visited from India, including Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Muktananda, Swami Rama, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho), Yogi Bhajan, Swami Satchidananda, among many others.
