What we’re about
We are looking for mature members who like to ride with a group. Most of our trips are short to medium range, averaging 100-200 mile round trip. Sometimes we get together for events. The emphasis is put on safety. All bike types welcome. Our members are from Englewood, Venice, North Port, Sarasota, Port Charlotte, and surrounding areas. We usually meet on Sundays and usually in Port Charlotte, from there to our destination for lunch. We do not bar hop.
We have few rules and no membership dues. Just be respectful and friendly to the other members, follow the basic group riding rules and traffic laws. Please only join if you can ride with us at least once a month or more, not counting returning home for the summer. Most members are seasoned riders, but all skill levels are welcome. We highly encourage the use of helmets, riding gloves, boots, long pants, etc. We highly discourage drinking and riding. We do ride year round but many members are snow birds. It is rare when we do not ride... Extreme weather is the exception. Anyone can suggest and lead a ride, contact an organizer for details.
The Rag Tag Riders are not based on any religion, sexual preference, or type of bike. We have married couples and singles. We will remove without warning any member that shows hatred, bigotry in any of the above. Because of these divided times in America, we do not discuss politics when we meet.
As of this update (04/15/19), we are no accepting requests to join from anyone involved in other multiple area groups. We periodically remove nonactive members that have not participated in recent rides.
By signing up and/or participating in a ride you acknowledge the inherent risks of motorcycle riding and relieve the Rag Tag organizers of all liability for any injuries and/or property damage. We encourage all members to carry insurance.
