I work as the public geek at a public library in the DC-area. I write for opensource.com and MAKE magazine
I like supporting the establishment and growth of makerspaces.
Several small video production rooms -- with camcorders, lighting, audio already set up -- so that community members can create a YouTube video just by sitting down.
I'm happy to volunteer time to remotely teach some workshops on digital storytelling and some other interests of mine. (I love teaching people about free logic puzzles on the web.) I'm also available to be a "Friend from Afar" -- if there are ways I can support the makerspace in that away.
Great to hear from you, Phil! I'm glad that computer is still serving you well ;-)
Thanks Phil! We look forward to meeting up with other kids and their parents!
If you love the maker movement then you'll love the spirit of Nova Labs. Get a feel for it at Nova-Labs.org where our blog captures some of the projects and activities. There you'll also find a calendar which shows our next Open House is Dec 13 ... plan to come! While at the site why not register and sign-up for mailing lists on topics of interest? It's free and it's a good way to get to know our people and projects. I know you're far but it would be worth your time to at least get to know us.
