Since you state that you're a beginner, can I ask what you'd like to get out of programming perl? Are you trying to "jazz-up" a website? Do some home-automation? Advance into a better job? Or, something completely different? We've got quite a diverse group and I hope you'll find the expertise and inspiration you're looking for.
