About VLAB Founders Series

VLAB Founders Series hosts leading visionary expert mentors who have brought unique innovations, special entrepreneurial characteristics, and sometimes even, the emergence of entirely new industries. These mentors have made significant impacts on the spirit of entrepreneurialism and have a strong interest in seeding the next generation of life changing developments. VLAB Founders Series events are a great opportunity to learn from the featured mentor and to network with other founders.

Founders Series events are held once a month where approximately 100 founders of solid, early stage startups are selected to take part in a collaborative “office hours” style session. Several startup founders are selected for the “Hot Seat,” where they each have six minutes to ask Carl questions and receive feedback, specifically about their startup idea, execution, or positioning. All founders in attendance will hear the questions, responses, and overall insight from the featured mentor. Questions and answers are requested to be kept confidential as a courtesy to founders whose startups are in stealth mode. Thus, the event is not a venue for pitching your start-up - promotional/marketing materials are not permitted. Hot Seat participation is optional, but, we do encourage all founders to apply even those not interested in being on the Hot Seat. Everyone will have the opportunity to network with Carl Showalter as well as other founders before and after the event.

To reiterate what Tom Clavel stated, just because you for the RSVP'd for the meetup, does not meet you are actually registered for the event. This is for startup founders. That is why only the people who filled out the application and were accepted would receive confirmation with the location of the event. Hope that helps.

    Hello,

This event is specifically dedicated to Bay Area entrepreneurs. This is the reason why the location is withheld and revealed to registered entrepreneurs.

As with all Office Hours/Founders Series event, the registration process is a two-step process. First we ask you to apply. This does not register you to the event, but this allows us to collect enough information from you in order to ensure that you are indeed an entrepreneur. This also give you the opportunity to contribute to the event as we give some attendees the opportunity to speak directly with our guest speaker.

There are several reasons why this particular type of event is restricted to entrepreneurs:
      - The content and format is specifically designed for entrepreneurs.
      - We also want to create a safe zone for entrepreneurs to share their experiences.
      - We have limited space to that event (100 seats) and entrepreneurs are the most qualified to take advantage of the content.

However, we encourage everyone to register to our monthly events that happen on the Stanford campus. These events - scheduled every third Tuesday of the month - is open to anyone interested in the particular topic that is presented there.

Our next open event will focus on "self-driving vehicles": the technology disruptions and the entrepreneurship opportunities. Tickets usually go out very quickly and early registration can save you up to $20 per ticket. So we do encourage everyone to register early: http://www.vlab.org/a....

Thanks everyone for your continued interest in VLAB!

      Best regards,

      Tom

Hello Tom, I have registered twice but haven't got any confirmation of receipt. Also sent an email with a reminder earlier today. Regards, Bhagwandas Rao.

I have such a difficult time attending events when I don't know the location and obtain such at the last minute. If I am going in one specific direction, I will take advantage of it with other meetings since I am in the area. Here, I have no clue.

Can someone send the location for this event., I received a confirmation email with location TBA and the event is in less then 3 hrs.

Hello Ashish. Could you verify the email invitation that you received? My guess is that what you received is in fact an invitation to register. Unfortunately I do not see your name online, so that means that you probably did not register. Indeed this event is for entrepreneurs - just like you - and this is the reason why we have a two-step registration process (1. we ask you to register as an entrepreneur, 2. upon validating that you are indeed an entrepreneur we send you the proper link to register - which invitation is what you might not have answered to). Please let me know and get back to me shortly. Thank you. Tom.
