NoSQL & Big Data at VLAB (Over 500 Attendees, only a few seats left)

Tickets available at the door starting at 6 pm on the day of event. Online Registration is CLOSED.

-- (600 capacity - we sold out the last few events at the CEMEX Auditorium.)

0 to 50 million users in 50 days? Disruptive scaling is painless with NoSQL.
Even enterprises have taken notice. They are using the same technology that propelled Google, Facebook and Amazon to massive success by analyzing petabytes of data from sensors, social media and commerce demographics.

NoSQL ("Not only SQL") enables queries and analytics against "unstructured" data, which allows for rapid prototyping and agile development of business intelligence applications. This is in stark contrast to the case where IT has to approve, fund, and develop every change to their "structured" database applications, and where scaling up requires a lengthy budgeting process.

Imagine: If power companies had real-time analytics from all the log files in the grid to improve response time in emergencies. Or if the sales team had insightful analytics about trouble tickets or other call center issues... before they got an escalation from their customer's executives.

Worth of this ‘Big Data’ market is projected to reach $53 billion in five years, and NoSQL is open-source. How can startups cash in, and how will incumbents respond? Big Data and Open Source Software powered the massive disruption we call Web2.0, and continues to power most of the big name IPOs of 2012. We are just getting started.

Come join the discussion and learn about:

  • What new analysis and business disruption can NoSQL and related technologies unlock in the enterprise market?
  • Is there more value to be made higher up the stack in an analysis software?
  • How do companies build successful businesses with open source software?
  • Can startups provide the same level of professional services and support expected from an enterprise vendor?

6:00 - 7:00pm Networking and Refreshments

7:00 - 8:30pm Presentation then Panel Discussion and Q&A

As a tech marketer, I need to be able to speak intelligently on a variety of topics with a host of current and potential clients-across several verticals. The panel helped demystify Big Data for me with their real-life anecdotes and thought-provoking glimpse into what lay ahead.

This subject area is so competitive that the panelists could not reveal details, especially technical ones. The most controversial point might have been about server farms with bare circuit boards in racks. I would have been interested in filling in details from user-visible service features down to BigData files. It would have been good to see some comparison of the wide variety of NoSQL data sets, creation/building (mostly continuous, I would guess), analysis, and results presentation to users.

Should have included a demo of one of the panelists' product. Very informative but too abstract.

hi Sree, we've been hosting paid events at the Stanford GSB since our founding in 1990. VLAB isn't just a casual meetup group; our community is 25,000+ strong. Our sold-out events are worth it. I hope you can make it and experience VLAB. This NoSQL and Big Data event is going to rock~ The panelists are stellar people in the industry...they are the industry!
