I've reserved the club room for Friday, 4/19 at 7:30PM...Have a DVD with four movies from which to choose: "All the Pretty Horses", "A Love Song for Bobby Long", "The Squid and the Whale", and "Off the Map"....too lazy to provide synopses but figure you're all bright enough to do the research!!...:)
I think two of the four movies I have sound good (and have good reviews). "The Squid and the Whale" is based on the true childhood experiences of Noah Baumbach and his brother, telling the story of two young boys dealing with their parents' divorce in Brooklyn in the 1980's.. "Love Song for Bobby Long" is described as having a sense of a Tennessee Williams/William Faulkner mood. It focuses on an 18 yr old daughter who returns to New Orleans following the death of her mother from a drug overdose. She finds a former professor of literature and his protege living in her childhood home. They spend the days drinking heavily, playing chess, and quoting Dylan Thomas. She moves in and the movie describes the dysfunctional and complex relationships that develop...starring John Travolta and Scarlett Johannsen
The other two I didn't "google"....
