Where: UVic SS&M A253
Instructor: Haydn Lawrence – Visiting graduate student

Basic Quick and Easy WebMapping Workshop
Concepts: Javascript/HTML/CSS, Google Fusion Tables, Google Maps, APIs
Description: This workshop will help attendees put together a "quick and dirty" web mapping application that can be used by internet browsers on most devices. It will use free applications, mostly through Google, and requires no special software or previous knowledge, though the final output would require the user to have somewhere to host it on the internet. It consists of basic HTML and javascript programming and will be geared for beginners of both. The basic purpose of the example that will be worked on is a citizen science type information gathering application.

Good overview, I hadn't used oauth or fusion tables before. It was brave trying to teach JavaScript to an unknown audience. Would have benefitted from references to background material such as the google maps api.
