This plan can be modified if the weather is not cooperating.

Bring as much weight as you feel comfortable with. Anticipate being out about 4-5  hours!

To Bring: a lot of Water, rain gear, warm clothes and some change clothes if you want to be comfortable for the optional meal or coffee after the hike.

Please make sure you are able to keep up a moderate pace on loose/rocky footing. (We walk approximately 4-5km per hour).

This is a weekly event sponsored by several VOC event organizers, with the goal of training for summer backpacking trips. Any level of experience is welcome - whether you are a backpacking sage or aspiring backpacker. Bring a backpack loaded with cans, water jugs, kitty litter (or whatever your choice of added weight), and join us.

    Non-backpackers are also welcome

*Organizers will have our 2014 membership cards  on hand at each event - or you can drop in for $2. Hikers need to read and sign the club waiver and provide emergency contact info at each event.
*Sorry, no dogs on these hikes.
There will not be a formal carpool from Tillicum, but leave a note on the event wall if you need to find a ride.

The hike is cancelled due to bad weather. Wind warning and risk of thunderstorm. See you next week. Sorry but safety first!

Environment Canada calls for rain and heavy wind during the morning. The route will be modified for safety reasons; we will avoid the Coast trail and use the interior trails. If the wind is too strong, we may cancel the hike. We will decide at 09:30. The safety of the participants is our priority.

Ensure to bring a good rain jacket and wear proper hiking boots with good traction.

If there is a lot wind and heavy rain, we will still go for a hike but we will select a safer route. We will decide at 09:30 Saturday morning what we will do.

Looking forward to see you. www.http://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-85_metric_e.htm
